Nisei Week 2008

Hey People,

Just a lil reminder for all you So Cal hapas, the 68th Annual Nisei Week is coming up this August!  Whether you are part Japanese or not, it is a fun cultural event to attend!

What Nisei Week is an annual festival held for and by the Japanese Community of Los Angeles.  Various activities throughout the weekend take place including, a street fair, cultural exhibits, vendor booths, games, food, and parade.

Every year a pageant is held for young ladies to crown a queen (Colleen Suyenaga one of our Wearehapa.com members was a princess!) and the whole court is a part of the parade. 

Where: Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles

When: August 16-17: street fair and August 17: parade

    Hi Athena. I heard about this event last year from the mother of a young lady that had entered that pageant (not sure if it was Colleen's mother) and had completely forgotten about it. So glad you brought it up, I will go for sure this year!
