Sashimi

my dad introduced me to sashimi when i was little. salmon sashimi. then i ate some white sashimi that was really good. i like rich tasting sashimi, like toro, mackerel, and hamachi. mackerel was my mom's favorite fish because that's what she ate as she was growing up (along with tuna sashimi, also really good when it's fresh). unagi is my brother's favorite thing to eat. i have heard of fugu too (blowfish). but i don't like the idea of  playing russian roulette with my food. lol what's your favorite sashimi?

     You need to provide a second response for your cats!!!  I would assume that if you're making/eating sashimi at home, the little kitties must be waking up from their naps and salivating!

    Unagi is my favorite food in the whole world.

    I remember my first time eating sashimi:  in Japan my dad's co-workers took us to a restaurant during my first week there.  I had a "seafood salad" and because the lights were so dim, I had already eaten half of it before I took a good look and realized... all those fish still had heads/faces on them.  Tasted pretty good though.

    Salmon and tuna sashimi are great! I wish I could get fresh sashimi grade fish in my area.  While sashimi refers to fish, has anyone tried raw shrimp or any of the raw shellfish in sushi restaraunts?

    I'm all about toro!  Hamachi, salmon, and fresh/salt water eel is delicious too though.  My one absolutely cannot have or i will die = ikura. >,<

    I guess i'm extremely on the haole side when I say that i'm not into sashimi.  I will however, eat sushi...it's a weird thing I have going on here. :)  I think it has to do with texture.  I haven't tried any raw shellfish...but I have tried the Korean raw beef thing here in the states and in Japan.  That was interesting and something I probably won't do again.  I think I chewed for what seemed like hours trying to get that down!  Someone even tried to get me to eat part of the heart that was raw....no thanks.....
