hey! where'd you go? ? lol

  • Takeru V.

OMG! ur leg was stabbed?? aw man, how bad was the injury. I'm thinking of a gruesome scenario where the stick is literally poking out the other side of your leg, blood covering your entire leg. aw man. make sure to watch for logs from now on lol one thing i was afraid of when i camped was waking up to find a huge spider on my face or something. that always scared me. instead, there was a large shadow of a deer over my tent one early morning. just chillin. then it ran away before i could even get out to snap a photo.. darn animals get so easily startled lol

yeah i'm going for only two classes a week right now and it's only for the gi classes. i've been missing out on the no-gi class and the no-gi open mat and the muay thai classes. i don't feel like my arm is up for direct contact training just yet, even though arm locks could KILL me lol i did manage to get a damn good seoinage yesterday. So my arm is getting much better now. I'm feeling much more aggressive too, in class. not hulking out but just tougher. ^_^

haha bad memories? or just faces u'd rather avoid? i actually love going back to the movie theater i used to work at. thing is, i always went there to catch the films even before i worked there. so the theater already had a deep rooted bond with me lol i mean, i was there when it first opened! besides, all the old faces left. i kinda miss working there =( This is gonna sound so corny, but sometimes i go on youtube and look up videos of AMC employees and their silly "at work" videos they shoot with their silly co-workers. I get nostalgic like that lol

wow really?? that doesn't fly well with me. if anybody did that to me, i'd hunt them down. Something similar happened to me in college. I had done the production sound work for this very very short film made by a fellow classmate of mine. I did only once scene really but it was the bulk of the entire film witht he most dialogue. thats how short it was. I did the micing, the mixing, the boom, etc. When the damn film was put up online, the dude failed to give me credit! instead he credited the sound person (who did the other, much shorter scene) as the sole sound department. I was so pissed, but i asked him nicely for him to give me the credit i deserved. he did, in the end. but damn.. if i didn't notice it, he wouldn't have even bothered.

this past weekend was great. i had a really nice date friday night and into saturday morning lol no not that, it was just a really loong phone call, post-date. during the weekend, i just did some home chores, went to class on sunday (got a really really REALLY aweful leg cramp, where my calf could be seen contracting through my thick gi. some of the guys were like, whoa dude, wtf. so no more wine ever again, the night before class) and tried doing as much packing at my mother's place as possible. pretty fun lol ever seen Amelie??

Bears are...awesome, but super scary. I like watching them in documentaries, but I'd never want to be near one. Haha. I stopped camping when I fell on a log and a tree branch stabbed my leg. Blood everywhere. But that was when I was young, so I would like to go camping again! I haven't been fishing in a while and I loved that, so I've been thinking about going sometime soon.

Ugh, and that sucks about your arm! That takes suchhh a long time to heal, so be sure to take it easy! No championship wrestling for you yet!

Oh and Target is so awesome! I think Walmart's cheaper, but on the whole, Target has nicer stuff. I used to work at a Walmart, so I try to avoid that place as much as I can! Lol.

And yeah, I probably should get to posting my stuff up somewhere, but I've been lazy about it. Lol. I used to post a lot of my work online back in high school, but I had problems with people, well one person in particular, taking my work and using it as their own. Since then, I've been a little apprehensive about sharing my stuff online. Haha. Ugh and that sucks about the people arguing at your work. Makes things sooo uncomfortable. People have their differences so I guess things like that can't be avoided. I hope they figure out their differences, at least for your sake!

    Anyway, how was your weekend?

i have no idea. when we had the old management, things were smoother. we even used to have one of those playgrounds all made of wood, with tire swings, huuuge red plastic slides, a wooden wall with a rope so u can scale it, lots of little nooks and corners. it was awesome. once new management came in they dezoned the playground and made a more common metallic/rubber playground and moved the area to the promenade. I wish i could draw u a picture of how the old playground looked. it was the best playground ever without a sand box. I was crazy pissed about that. i still am.

lol ugh, i sometimes get annoyed at people who strike up conversations on the line at the groceries. only when i'm in a rush though. i don't mind random convos while waiting for the bus. i guess it also depends what time of the day is the convo. i don't mind it as much during the evening or night. but in the morning, i'm a lil grouchy so i don't wanna talk to random people lol

oh yeah, it's the year of the tiger! forgot about that. it's def our year, innit, Jen? haha bears are scary. i was a little afraid when i went camping with my friend because i knew we were sorta in bear country. Black bears. thank goodness we didn't come across any though. But that sucks about your camping experience. That's def a story for the memory books lol did that scar u for life? will u ever go camping again?

remember i told u i sprained it? well, i thought it was 100% better, but i felt the ol' soreness again. once i figure out my medicare issue, i'm going to check out my arm and see what's up cuz this is ridiculous. For now though, i'll have to slow down training by not going to every class =(

HAHA i know what u mean. the way they designed Ikea stores, piss me off. they're so awesome to look through but if u notice, u have to go through all the sections in order to exit. well yes, they have "short cuts" but u still have to go through miles of bedroom/kitchen/living room sections. argh! damn u Ikea!!! if i had a car, i'd be more open to shop for things anywhere else. i'd be content on shopping at Target or Walmart for a desk, bed, etc. i guess Target is ur fav place to go shopping? i gotta admit, when my mom's bf had his car and used to drive us places, Target was one of the places i enjoyed going to. such a cool store lol

haha aww. i'd like to see some of ur work! any chance u can post up a pic or two sometime? keep at it, Jen! job's going alright. my boss and coworker have been arguing a lot lately. since the job's been going slow, not many projects in the pipeline and such, things have been a little tense around the office. yesterday, they were arguing over job ethics again, and it got to the point where one of them asked the other to take the conversation outside cuz he didn't want to argue anymore in front of me. haha but i had to leave anyway, so i let them duke it out even more. i'm afraid some day, i'm going to leave them arguing and come back the next day to find a dead body in the middle of the office with a chainsaw in the dude's chest haha i hope not, though.

OMG! why are they being such bitches to the residents?! and if they're going to charge, they should at least make it worthwhile! i'd be pissed too!

yeah, there are some people who can find a way to talk to everyone about everything. it's always fun to have a person like that around you. that person himself becomes a conversation starter. like, "hey, did you hear about what kevin said?" since everyone knows him. in a way, i wish that i had a little more of that quality, striking up a conversation with the lady in line behind me at the grocery store, etc.

tigers are awesome, and i'm glad that i'm a tiger living in the year of the tiger! woo hoo! lol. i do love bears, but they kind of freak me out. once when i was little, i was camping with my dad, and at night a bear came and ransacked our campsite. there were fish in the cooler, but it's hard to open...and he ended up carrying the cooler away! brewskis and all! lol. we had a plastic jar, and he punctured it with his claws. *sigh* camping's fun.

and what happened to your arm?! sorry to hear that it's messed up!

omg this whole living with a roommate thing sounds so exciting. i love ikea, but they're such a*holes with their weird system of buying stuff. go here, pay for it there, do this, wait here. i just gave up and ended up buying a desk at walmart. lol.

i've been doing a little bit of both...working and not working, that is. i feel like i'm doing so much, but when i look at the end product...i haven't gotten very far. i just finished up a whole buttload of paintings and really, i feel as if i never want to pick up a paint brush again. is everything cool at your job?

well, for the fourth of july, they have things for kids really. which doesn't bother me. they have people on stilts walkin around, they have hot dog/burger/snow cone/popcorn vendors, live music/DJ but they're lame. First off, they CHARGE the residents and their guests to pay some insane amount to come down to the plaza level to enjoy the "festivities." on top of that, GUests are only allowed to come down to the party after a certain time in the day. WTF? i know. AAAANNNND, their music sucks, their food sucks, the only thing that's good is getting fresh warm air and a good snowcone to enjoy. thaz it. last year they didn't have any festivities because the fireworks were held on the Hudson river to commemorate Henry Hudson, who was the first to explore the river. usually it's right in front of my complex on the river. geez, i got so heated up just talking about this. what bothers me even more, is that u have to submit a guest list (of no more than 10 people) to the waterside office no less than two weeks away from July 4th. glad i'm moving outta there lol sorry for venting =(

lol not really. people mostly keep to themselves. although there is this one guy around the complex who talks to EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING. i guess he's more like the neighborhood chatbox. everyone knows "Kevin." lol doormen, groceryfolk, security guards, even the bus driver..

i love polar bears! if i could choose two favorite animals it'd be the Tiger and Bears -- mostly polar bears and the formosan black bear with the white patch on its chest lol i don't follow the UFC as much but i'll try to catch some of my favorite fighters if they have a bout. but i'm always lookin for new blood hahaha it seems like my hopes to compete will have to wait a little longer. my arm is still a little messed up. i won't be able to train as hard or as much anymore because of it =( but i'll def make competition sometime, when i get better at with mah skillzzz lol

u still brain dead? lol it's cool. i'm in the middle of moving outta my old place with my best friend. haven't made it official yet but i've been staying over for a few days in a row; cooking, cleaning, checking out the neighborhood. it's been great so far. gonna head to ikea today to see what we can buy for the house. we need a sofa fosho, some shelving units, and i need to get me a floor lamp for my room. at the moment, it has no artificial lighting so i needs badly, ya dig?

how about you, Jen? workin hard or hardly workin?

Oh, I'm sorry that the festivities have been lame...but what kind of festivities do you have in the area? People in my area tend to really keep to themselves, so the only community activity that goes on is the farmer's market that happens once a week in the mall parking lot. Lol. Are people friendlier where you live?

Penguins are...funny looking. I don't really find them cute, but my mom adores them along with polar bears. I don't watch the UFC fights, but I don't really watch sports that much (at all). :-P I've noticed that you're into them through some of the pictures that you post on facebook. Good luck with being able to compete! Sorry I don't have much to say this time around, my brain's totally dead lately. haha. How are things going for you?

LOL wow someone's lettin' go like a sailor! haha u seem a lil annoyed about the growing numbers of residence? hehe i know what u mean. at least 10 years ago, my complex over on the east side used to have better management when the complex was more of a family-friendly locale. Now, a lot more younger people are moving in, mostly medical students from NYU and people who work at the UN. It's cool to see a growing diversity here but things have become a little cold. Their summer day camp sucks, the festivities are lame (4th of July sucked BADLY over the last few years) and prices are climbing! so i hate the new traffic of BULLSHIT from the complex. and with added security, the place feels like a maximum security prison.

yeah, jelly fish and sharks. but sometimes i let my imagination wander and then i become afraid of something i created -- like humanoid sea creatures that evolved from algae millions of years ago when a meteor hit the Atlantic near the Montauk shores. They come walking out of the sea in the thousands at dawn, wanting to feast on new flesh. ugh. LOL sea lions are assholes? really? they seem sweet. Penguins, on the other hand, seem like douchebags. I dunno why my brother likes em so much... and yes, if one comes near me and my grub, i'm gonna arm bar their wing (>.<)

thank you! i've never competed before in my life except for a 6th grade art competition. So i'm psyched. but i have to go through a registration process so that i can officially compete in sanctioned tournaments. otherwise i'd be "illegal" lol U watch any of the UFC fights at all?

Well, the valley that I remember used to be a total shit hole...but it's cleaned up a lot now. It's gotten more upscale...they've built so mannnyy houses around here, there's a lot more fucking people...the streets are more crowded...and it's starting to turn into the trendy/hip place to be...well, some parts at least. I just sort of miss the old days when there was a lot less traffic.

I loveeee the sea and I love the ocean, but there's a lot of really weird things that inhabit it. Jellyfish are one of the things that top that list. And dude, sea lions are assholes. Haha. My cousin wasn't very amused that we were laughing at him. Sea gulls are assholes too. Next time one comes after you, you should karate chop the damn thing! Lol.

Muay thai is really cool. And it's cool that you're training and thinking of competing. I really hated tae kwon do when I was younger...lol. I don't think I'd ever go back to it though, I don't know why, but it just never really struck a chord with me. Even though I think martial arts are fun to watch.

  • Takeru V.

alright. we're gonna have to do that when i'm out there again. it's planned. bada bING! lol

lol they probably knew u were lightweight so the bartenders weakened it by a lot hehe Oh yeah? i don't think i've ever seen an Italian wedding before, except for the mafioso movies like Godfather, Goodfellas, Married to the Mob etc. I wanna go to more weddings, dammit. i thnk i'll become a crasher lol but i'll need a partner in crime. hmm

haha i think if u drank more often, u'll inevitably throw it all up! some friends of mine are the kinds of dudes who love to get wasted but being that i practice martial arts, it's not only about fitness but more about being aware of my surroundings and ready in case anthing happens lol but why did i suggest we get drunk at karaoke? CUZ I HAVE TO MAKE AN EXCEPTION! haha

haha oy vey, im sure they had a fun time picking out the zones to stay away from. funny, i was just talking to a friend about the very same thing. he too thinks the new york's old school spirit has left with the red light district. kinda sad; i'm living in an all-new cleansed out New York City now =( i miss the old days haha How do you remember the old school valley/LA?

haha i see u're a lil squirmish about those j'fish as i am! LOL a fukin sea lion?! how did that happen? and where?? poor dude must've been so afraid. i remember being scared out of my pants from being chased by a chained dog! haha I've had a similar experience with seagulls. one of them sneaked by and snatched my hot dog from my damn hand! Grr. since then i've always been out on the hunt.

well i'm actually practicing brazilian jiu jitsu and muay thai along with the judo. it's mma, basically lol but the Judo's been growing on me lately and i want to get on with some competitions. but as for a reason, mmm, i guess the bjj/judo aspect was more interesting than karate or kenpo or aikido or hapkido. i wanted to learn something that's associated with grappling and using one's advantage against them, etc. the muay thai was an added bonus. HA! seems like lots of korean americans were forced by their folks to do the same. kinda like how japanese kids often learn judo at their schools. many schools ass judo as part of their curriculum. would u wanna go back to learning tae kwon do?

omg, getting drunk together and singing karaoke sounds fun! lol!

and yeah...the wedding wasn't that big...they did have a dance floor, but no one was really dancing. i think everyone was more focused on getting their drinks. lol. i usually don't have a high tolerance...but for some reason, i kept drinking and drinking but i didn't get drunk very quickly...when that was my goal. haha. the greek wedding seems like sooo much fun. i would think an italian wedding would be lots of fun as well. i have italian friends and have gone to their place for parties before...and they reallly know how to party. lol.

you're lucky that you don't vomit or get hangovers when you drink! if i was the same way, i'd drink a lot more often! which is probably a good thing that i don't have a high tolerance...lol.

when i visited new york a while back, i went on a class trip with my suuupeer christian high school, so i think the teacher made sure to steer clear away from spots like that. but there's instances of things like that over here as well...where seedy areas are cleaned up...which sounds like a nice idea and is probably for the better...but it's sad to see something stripped away of its character and lose the identity that it was known for, just so another shopping center can be built in its place.

stories like that are why i like to stay out of the ocean for the most part. *shudders* jellyfish, sharks, whatever the fuck else lurks in there....i've never encountered jellyfish, thank goodness, but once, my cousin was chased a little bit by a sea lion. hahahah scary at first, but one of the funniest things i've ever seen. another time, that one friend that i mentioned before and i had taken mcdonald's to the beach and were sitting on the sand when like twenty seagulls came and attacked us trying to get our food. we had to throw our fries in another direction to get them away from us. lol. i don't really have any horrific bug stories though, because i have a superhuman ability to spot them really quickly and get the hell out of there. lol. thank god.

that's so cool that you practice judo. do you have a particular reason why you chose that practice instead of another martial art? i had taken tae kwon do (because my mom wanted me to do something korean, lol) when i was younger, and i had gotten up to *DUN DUN DUN*...wait for it...white belt! i know, i'm amazing. lol.

lol slurred singing! aww, u're an awesome drunk! we should get drunk together and just laugh at stupid shit haha! my voice gets incredibly rough and raspy and then just sore. that's another thing i hate about drinking so much. i end up sounding like an old man who laughs too much.

omg ur wedding story sounds incredible. i can't believe the food and people weren't up to par, yo. that's unfortunate. was it a big wedding at least? with a dance floor and all? lol jeebus, Jen, u downed the entire bar? sounds like u have much more tolerance than me. i'm like a flyweight now. can't have a half a pint without getting red or feeling hot etc. alcohol works very fast with me now.

i've been to two weddings; one on a job and one for my college friend's. it was great, the latter. He's Greek so the wedding was Greek. VERY Greek. Both families had tons of people. During dinner there was LOTS of dancing. I got to do the Greek circle dance thing. It was so much fun. I've got some video on FB if u care to check it out. Mostly dancing footage lol I kinda wanna make friends with Greek people so i can go to more Greek weddings lol love the music.

I really dont, as i stated above. That happened a couple of years ago right after graduation. My tolerance was pretty damn hefty but ever since then, i really stopped drinking a lot. Especially now that i'm training in judo. And i felt soooo much better after eating. I thanked my friends so much, afterward. I literally stumbled into the diner, fell on my side when we sat at the booth, and let my friends ordered. they got me a separate dish for me to kill lol after i was done, i felt so awake. my hair was a mess, my shirt was spilling out of my waist coat, etc lol i was so embarrassed. One day though, i woke up suuuuper thirsty after a night of drinking (on a weekday during school) after a long film shoot. Turned out that morning was the morning of a very important midterm lol but it was all good. I've never had a hangover really. I just get thirsty for gatorade and that's it. Never had a headache or vomited or anything bad. i DON'T drink soju, for the reason that i hear it's pretty strong stuff lol not so much of a sake person myself but i'll have it on occasion, for instance, my mother's bday. had LOTS of sake and apparently got my mother pretty dan tipsy lol

haha, i don't think i'd like to see any more people get arrested in front of me. but if anything were to go down, i can def hold my own. grr. lol I gotta check out the Valley then. When u were last here, did u guys see 8th avenue a whole lot? Cuz 15 years ago, at least, it was THEE Red District of NYC. every block had a strip bar, video shops, etc. I used to live close by when i was very little, so i remember seeing lots of that kinda thing back then. Nowadays though, it's cleaned up pretty well. There are still some small video shops nearby but all of the strip bars have left.. sadly. lol jk. There was always something so interesting about the red light district, not to sound pervy. but it was the last bit of the old school NY that left. After they eradicated that area, NYC became much cleaner. time sq became safer and bigger and helluva lot more touristy. it's so different from back in the day.

omg, i was in Jersey on vacay with my dad and brother, right? we went to the beach for the day and i noticed there were NO jellyfish. They startle me a bit. I swam for most of the day without encountering one until the time the tide started coming up. I went in for another few dives before we left but after a wave hit me hard, i felt something in the palm of my hand and i just squeezed. it felt rubbery, soft, and almost hollow. when my hand came up from out of the water, i saw a fuckin little transparent thing in my grasp and i freaked! it was a damn jelly fish. when i looked up at the oncoming wave, i saw tens of them in the water. that was when i just jetted. "day is done, pa. lets go." ugh.. i just shuddered. MORE CENTIPEDES! haha what's the worse bug incident u've ever had?

Laughing and talking about embarrassing things, eh? I’m the same. Lol. When I’m drinking with really close friends, I’ll get really loud, laugh at everything and talk about things that don’t make any sense. Maybe some slurred singing and awkward dancing.

The most trashed I’ve ever been was at my cousin’s wedding. Haha. I didn’t really know anyone. It was boring. The food was awful, but they had an open bar. I was drinking everything that they had…whiskey, cocktails, beer...plus the champagne that they placed on the table. I don’t really remember anything; but my mother said I was crying on her shoulder for no reason and eventually fell asleep on one of the couches. I didn’t ever think that I’d be a weepy drunk, but it was probably because I was really annoyed that the whole night everyone kept on coming up to me asking when I was going to get married. UGH. Have you ever been to any weddings? Were they fun experiences?

LOL. At least when you got really wasted, you had a fun night out with your friends! You seem like you have really high tolerance. Did you feel better after you ate the chicken fingers? Maybe I’ll use that as a remedy when I’m trying to sober up. I think the worst feeling in the world is after a night of heavy drinking, when you wake up…and the room is spinning. Has that ever happened to you? I drink soju sometimes when I party it up in Ktown. Lol. Do you drink soju or do you like sake more?

At least you get to witness some action, people getting arrested and such. Lol. I’m pretty sure a lot of that stuff happens in L.A., but since I’m from the valley…the only seedy stuff I encounter is like meeting porn stars in the bank. HAHA. Since it’s the porn capital, I run into a lot of stuff like that actually.

Just hearing about that centipede story made my heart jump out of my throat. That’s soo scary and disgusting. I agree we got to stop talking about these things. Talking about getting drunk and partying is so much more fun. Lol. But what’s this about holding a jelly fish in your hand??!

lol, i wish i had taken some video of us in our tipsy mode. I start laughing so much and start talking about embarrassing things when i drink lol How do you get when you drink?

LOL maybe i worded it wrong; that's not what i first thought of you actually. Later on is when i started thinking that maybe you were a person who had a tough side to go with your calm and sweet side. but that's funny someone else picked that up. I hate it when people act unnaturally nice but then just gung ho on you. there's a dude like that i sorta know who has a thing with my best friend. eeek lol

haha, i don't do that often! or at least, recently. actually, no, i was out till 4 on New Years haha LOL out getting drugs, were u?! jk. I actually don't have that many crazy stories from being out on the town lol i've seen a few people arrested, one guy got arrested off a sting in the middle of broad day light lol I've never gotten so crazy drunk that i can't remember a thing. Although there was this one time i drank my most, and wasn't so thrilled lol started off with beers at a bar with some buddies to celebrate the end of a loooong shoot, then went to meet some other friends at another bar for more beers, then went to a house party and drank a shit load of wine and whisky. sheesh, afterward my buddies had me fed tons of chicken fingers to kill the buzz lol what's the worse u've ever drank? r u a soju fan?

moths make me the most uncomfortable. *shudders* ugh! we gotta stop talkin about this! haha awww u poor thing! sometimes i just freeze up. this one time, at baseball camp (lol this ain't an american pie story, i can tell u that) i was in the community bathroom washing my face before going to bed. I had my face deep into the sink to wash off until i saw a friggin centipede the size of a jumbo sharpie worming right out from the drain! i don't think i've ever jumped so far back in my life. i think i just used my towel to rub off whatever i could't wash and just took my shit and left. I was sooo startled LOL It was brown, had lots of itty bitty legs, and looked unfriendly. but it probably just wanted to talk lol BUT WTF WAS IT DOING IN THE DRAINS??? ever held a jelly fish in your hand, thinking it was something else?

thanks, jen! i'm pulling for a Brooklyn move! but i have to do lots of convincing lol

lol. it's cool. i actually appreciate the long comments. plus, i think it's because the comment space is narrow in width...so it ends up looking longer than it really is. :-) getting tipsy with your mother on her birthday sounds like a lot of fun! haha. i saw the facebook pictures and it's great you had a good time!

LOL! your first impression of me was that i had a scary side? hahaha. i think i somehow give off that aura, because that's not the first time i heard someone say that to me. haha. i kind of like it though, because if people know not to mess with me then they're less likely to walk all over me. muahaha. but yeah, it's not that i act nice to mask an evil side of me or something. it's just that, well i'm nice until i'm pushed to a certain point. haha.

that's soo cool that you're out with your friend until 4 a.m! lol. all my friends usually wanna head home at midnight. party poopers. lol. but geez, me and that one friend go way back...and most of the crazy stories that i have to tell happened when i was with her. ugh, we were so lucky that we had someone to pick us up...and when i came home late and was explaining to my mom what happened, she thought i made everything up and was out doing drugs or something. lol. living in new york, you must have some crazy stories yourself!

HAHA. your brother sounds...interesting. BLEHK. i hate spiders and arachnids the most...but really my dislike extends to all bugs...even butterflies and ladybugs. lol. i can't even look at pictures of them. i wish i could kill them, but my hands start trembling every time i get near one. haha. pretty pathetic. but my mom and i have a good relationship worked out...i chase away all the cats and she kills all the bugs. :-)

and it's cool that your mother and brother are in the moving process at the same time. and yeah, it's most important how close the place is to your work. a one hour commute sounds like a nightmare! good luck with the moving and finding a place!

my mother's bday was great! my best friend and cousin came for dinner at my mom's fav Japanese restaurant and my mum and i got pretty badly tipsy off of sake lol we had a good time; good food, lots of laughs, i was doing my Mr. Han impersonation, and had some pretty dam good cake afterward. There are a few pics up on my fb, check em out!

haha u're pretty scary huh? my first impression of you when we met at the meetup was, "she's super sweet, but something tells me she's got a pretty scary side when she gets angry" LOL. i'm very similar. but in no way does it mean we're putting on a false face or anything. that is just the nature.

lol one night, when a friend of mine were walkin through the west side of manhattan, it was almost 4am. At the time, i thought bars closed later like around 5 or 6. So i walk into the bar when i see them putting up chairs, and the dudes were just like; wtf r u doing in here? lol i walk out and say to my friend, "thats weird, they're closing up." and he just rolls his eyes lol Aw man, if u hang out with her again, please tell me what other lil adventure u two get into! It really sounds like something i could use for a film lol That's a cool thing about where you live though, you know someone who can drive and who can pick u up if u really needed it. Nothing like that hear.

one of the funniest things in this whole moving situation, is that whenever i find an apartment to check out online, i first show my best friend, and then i show my mom lol so now my friend and i are competing with my mother and brother for a two bedroom spot! not really but it def seems that way lol

awww the spiders bother u?? don't worry, i get easily startled by bugs and arachnids and all that iggity wiggily stuff. However, my brother and I are like experienced mercenaries when it comes to dealing with mosquitos. My brother is a lil more sick. He'd kill em while they're on the wall but would keep their carcass there as a trophy LOL then, he'd jokingly taunt other intruders by showing them his last kill prize.

nope, nowhere near having found our own place yet. however, i'm going to be slowly moving in with my best friend since her parents will be leaving by the end of the month. her mom's going back to Japan and her dad's just gonna live a few floors below. And while i live there, i'm gonna help her get rid of her old things along with searching for a more affordable place for ourselves. it's pretty exciting, but i'm not too thrilled about how far up she lives. where i am now, it takes me 30 to an hour to get to work, depending on if i walk to the subway station, or take the bus there. but considering i'll be living up on 181st st on the WEST side, as opposed to the east, it may take me at least an hour to get to work. damn. we better find our own place soon. I'm gonna search only for places in Brooklyn dammit. she's way too attached to the Heights.

LOL...yeah, i admit that i have a really bad temper as well. i keep it inside on most issues, but when i get angry, i'm pretty scary. haha. bad temper totally runs on my mom's side of the family...my aunts, uncles, cousins...family dinners are always...interesting. lol.

SO LUCKY that everything's open until four! yeah, it's hard to go out drinking with friends over here because of the driving thing. and yeah, it was kind of scary when we were stranded out there...cuz no one else was out...oddly, i only get into weird predicaments like that whenever i'm with her. -_- we called a bunch of people, and eventually her brother was able to pick us up. lol.

wow that sounds really fun, getting to live with your best friend! and dang, it seems that everyone you know is moving out of their places. it must be keeping you really busy! :-)
yeah, it's just me and my mom living together. my dad lives somewhere in arizona. but when i graduate, i'm not sure what's going to happen, because i've been wanting to live in korea...but i can't live alone, cuz i need someone to get rid of the spiders for me. lol. it sounds like a joke, but it's a really big issue for me. haha. so are you all packed up right now or are you in the process of?

LMAO! way to go, Jennifer's granny! That's how you roll. And since your mum has it, it only means you have that as well lol i better stay on your good side then. I'm the same way too. i can only remember a few times where i went off on some unfortunate people. i don't get angry much but when i get super mad.. o boy lol Tsunami Tak! Yeah, when i see my mother do it, i wanna do the same thing and just crawl away somewhere. same with my dad. O GOSH, can HE go off too lol between my parents, my dad's def the louder one; the one who will confidently speak his mind and stick by his ideals.

seriously. i was disgusted by the fact that since the sucker puncher couldn't get his hits in, he decided to hit the woman. And what also angers me is that no one did a damn thing. I mean, i know people shouldn't get themselves involved with other matters, but when the problem spills onto other people's shoes, then it's a bigger issue. it's not like 10 guys were in scrap, it was just two guys duking it out. They coulda easily been separated. anyway, what's done is done.

lol o, man; u lot were stranded? and i hear everything closes down at 2am because of the liquor law. See, over HERE bars are open till FOUR! lol but it's understandable that in LA the time is shorter cuz more people drive out there than NYC. But upon the first time hearing that, i was like: but no way, the night has just begun wtf! lol it was actually that night of the LA meetup when i found out about the 2am thing. How did you and your friend make it out of ktown?? sounds like a funny lil premise for a comedy.

i am actually. for the time being, i'm gonna move in with my best friend at her parent's place. but since her parents are moving out and going their separate ways, i was gonna move in and help my friend clear out the space. THEn we're gonna find a place of our own. And there are lots of cheap listings too! i'm so excited. my cousin is moving out of the city too and my mom and brother are looking to move as well. so much moving going on right now in my life haha r u with ur parents still or on ur own?

Haha. My grandmother was getting her citizenship at the time, so she was using all the English that she knew. The other lady was pretty shocked. And yeah, it's always the sweet, quiet people who seem to have scary tempers. You've heard stories? You've never seen your mother in action? Maybe that's a good thing. My mom does the same thing, and sometimes I feel like I want to crawl under a rock somewhere.  -_- Well, I don't think it could be as bad as my mother's...since she has a really loud personality. Lol.

I can't believe that people would actually make the effort to hold open the doors to watch a fight, but won't take any action to break up the fight itself. *Shudders* People can be really scary. That's good that your girl friends are armed and even better that none of them have had to use it. It's awesome that most lines are 24/7 (I remember getting stranded in Koreatown at 2 a.m. because my friend insisted that it never closed down) but it sucks that the express lines don't and that it's going to make your life harder. :(  so, are you apartment hunting right now?

haha i was a lil drunk, it was a loong day, i just wanted to give it a shot. I must say it's a good sober-up pizza, but damn, it just wasn't pizza! lol

LMAO! nice!! did she use Korean or was it all in English? Those grandmothers.. they shouldn't be messed with. I've heard stories from my brother and her boyfriend about my mother really going off on some people in stores, restaurants, etc. She's the sweet quiet type but those are the ones you DON'T wanna piss off either.

the whole fight took place at a subway stop. When the fight took to the platform, some people actually held the doors open so they can get a better look at the fight without missing their ride. i thought that was stupid. in the end, the guy fighting for himself was trying to get back in and that's when his girl or sister or friend got socked. shame, really. if i were there i'd have really tore that fucker up, who hit her. lol i made a huge rant on my friend's fb page about how much i wanted to shred that dude to pieces; i don't wanna repeat it lol

ah. it seems lots of girls have those 'groping' stories. they've even put up MTA posters in the subways encouraging women to tell a cop or MTA worker about things like that. Weirdos, fo sho. apparently, it happens here so often that most women don't ever report it. i know some girls who live in some of the shady parts of the city who always pack a butterfly knife. they've never had to use em though lol Most lines run 24/7. The ones that stop working are the express lines =( which sucks, cuz now my best friend wants to find a place with me somewhere waaaaay up in harlem, which means local trains will be a bitch late at night!

You are really brave for trying that Philly cheesesteak pizza. Thanks for the heads up on that one.

LA buses are pretty fun. I used to ride it a lot when I was younger. I remember my very ladylike Korean grandmother cussed out this one middle aged white lady. That was really fun to watch. Afterward, she was like "Don't tell your mother I said those things." Lol.

Your story about the homeless guys hanging on the bars made me crack up. Hahaha. That's soo scary about the fight happening on the subway. Like, what could possibly make anyone so angry that they have to fight then and there on a moving vehicle. And that poor girl. I just remember when I was on it, getting groped by some weird homeless guy. Not just me, but he went after my friends as well...haha. Weirdos. Do the subways run 24 hours? I think that the ones in L.A. shut down after 1 a.m. or something like that.

it wasn't bad at all! i enjoyed it. but i can DEF see other peeps getting a little weirded out. yeah, Dominos and some of their idiotic topping styles is a good example of unpizza-like pizza. Philly cheesesteak pizza??? disgrace. i had it once, awful lol!

really? i think i should have a license, at least. the buses in LA were so awesome to ride! the system being a little weird, but i still had a GREAT time riding the buses. a bit too much of a good time lol just sat there smilin a whole lot with a bunch of LAers lookin at me like i'm some sort of gaijin. haha

    what was your story?

one of the funniest ones i have is on one late night, after 2am on a weekday night, i was takin the subway back home alone from a shoot and there were two homeless dudes -- fairly young-lookin -- and they were both hangin on the high handle bars like a couple of monkeys. tryin to see who can hang on the longest. it was soo amusing. another one was when a full car saw a man trying to rush through to catch his stop. but right when the door closed, it closed on his foot! he struggled for a second till his shoe came off! the train went off, and he never saw his shoe again. everyone on board watched. and laughed lol thank goodness i've never witnessed anything horrific, although a friend of mine showed me a horrible video of a 2-on-1 fight, and in the end, that 1 guy's girlfriend got sucker punched by someone off screen and she was cut open very bad. i was so shocked and sick to my bone (turned out i actually had a stomach virus that day, but i was still equally sickened and appalled). i have so many more lol

The Japanese pizza sounds really good actually. But I get your point about being a pizza traditionalist. It's called pizza because it's made a certain way and if it's made differently then it should be called something else. :)

That's SO cool that you don't have a license, actually. Here in LA, especially in the valley, it's really difficult to get around without it. Even if I wanted to take public transportation, I'd have to drive there first and then park. Lol. I can imagine that you'd have several stories about riding the subway. I was only there for one week and I have two. Haha. What kind of things happened to you?

  • Takeru V.

oh, i have several weird stories on the subways. every new yorker has at least 5 lol

  • Takeru V.

LMAO! no kidding, us New Yorkers love our pizza simple and traditional. i mean, American pizza really did start out in my city, so we take A LOT of pride in it. but that's funny that the waitress gave u lot a look. i might've done the same haha i've def seen hawaiian style pizza here though, but they're most likely found in touristy places. anywhere deep in the city, u'll only find places that serve up several different toppings and pizza styles. Never been to a CPK YET. i'll let u know what i think as soon as i hit one up =)

Japanese pizza is interesting. Doesn't have a whole lotta sauce on it, has a good amount of cheese on it, the dough is good, but the toppings are what'll either get to you or will grow on you. Mine had a bit of octopus in it (underneath the cheese), ham, and i think bits of shrimp too. it was good, but i missed my ny pizza after eating that lol

it's more than a block long lol but the one area that people tend to flock to is just that one block. oh cool! that's a cool meaning, but our Woorijip is nothin like urs -- in a house? haha i use the good ol' public trans. i walk to the subway station, take the subway, transfer, then walk then rest to work. i prefer taking the bus to places, rather than subways. and i LOVE LA buses! next time i go out there, i'm gonna try to get around on buses a lot more if i can't get a ride around lol

    oh and i don't have a license... don't laugh. =P

You stinkin' pizza snob!! I actually had it the other day...and it was freaking good. I remember when I went to New York on a class trip, we ignorant Californians decided to order a Hawaiian pizza (canadian bacon and pineapple) without looking at the menu. We got a weird look from the waitress and then she started talking about how they don't serve that kind of pizza on the east coast. LOL! Well, I didn't order it...my friends did. I'm pretty indifferent to it really. I have been to CPK...I think it's just okay, actually. Their raspberry lemonade is freakin bommbb though. Their barbecue chicken pizza is pretty good too. What do you think of CPK? By the way, what is Japanese pizza like?

Well, next time I go back to there, I'm totally gonna hit up Ktown! If it's only a block long, I'll hit it all up and just have one fantastic crazy night! There's a Woorijip in LA too. It means "Our House" in Korean...and the restaurant is literally a house. It seemed like they just turned the bedrooms into different rooms for events. Well, was like a house...it went out of business. So, another reason to visit NY! And omg...going on the subway was a fun experience...but it was kind of gross and the people on it are kind of weird. Do you use it a lot or do you drive?

ah damn, hate hot-ass weather lol ave hot temp we get in the summer is mid to high 80's, and occasionally into the lower 90's. but then we get crazy humidity. ugh. its the worse when u're in the subway. ktown here is nuthin special really. it's in around herald sq. so it's fun to hang. it's only a block long but there are tons of bars and restaurants and karaoke places to go to there. and a great little "hangover/drunk munchies" spot called Woorijip. i love going there. omg. that pizza sounds narsty. LOL i'm all about fusion foods and all, but i'm pretty conservative when it comes to NYC pizza. I've had Japanese pizza before... verrrry interesting lol i should def try your kind if i get the chance.

and to answer ur question; with pizza, not that i know of. most new yorkers keep it simple and as close to traditional as possible. here, it's all about plain, sausage, and pepperoni. real traditionalists, though, go for brick oven and margarita pizza. still haven't tried that though. we have a CPK here. ever been to one over in your area?

  • Jennifer

yeah the valley's hell. it does get really hot here. i had to turn on my a/c when i was driving to school this morning. it's always 15 degrees warmer than l.a. too. i never got to see a korea town when i was in new york. ktown is okay...i think it's pretty similar to jtown actually. actually my favorite place in koreatown lately is a place called mr. pizza. it's korean style pizza with sweet potato mousse stuffed into the crust...and it has potatoes and nacho chips and sour cream and ham on top of it....it's really weird...but it's super freaking good. is there any weird fusion stuff like that that you've been to over in nyc?

  • Takeru V.

o wow! i thought u were LA-based. i hear it gets incredibly there during the summer. like, ridonkulous hot. We have a koreatown but not a japantown or little tokyo. not an official one, at least. we have a street in the east village where there are several Japanese restaurants in the area along with a Jas Mart but there's no japanese community here. not like chinatown. I like to hang out in the east village, greenwhich village, and LES (lower east side). but i'm lookin into exploring other parts of the city to chill. i didn't get to see KTown over in LA. got any pics of it or any recommendations?

oh sweet! i've been craving ramen too, so i'm gonna have to hit that place up. well, i live in the san fernando valley which is a good 30 min-1 hour away (depending on the traffic) from downtown. but whenever i do go there, i usually hang out in koreatown. i remember going to chinatown in new york, but do they have a little tokyo and koreatown there too? where do you usually hang out?

LOL! if i were with a group of friends who r into disney, i def wouldn't mind going. but personally, i was never such a fan of disney except for Cinderella (don't laugh) and Robin Hood. IF Robbie's there, then i'll def go and chill with the Hood. They have some rides, right?

awww ur hands shook after losing 10 bucks?? lol kinda funny to imagine. Reminds me of an episode of Fresh Prince when Carlton and Will went to Vegas alone, and Carlton freaked OUT when Will changed for $100 lol And when Carlton tried betting a nickel in roulette. LOL hilarity. I hear it's just a great place to go for almost anything, not just gambling. but its got so much rep as a casino town that i can't imagine anything else than black jack and uber beefed security.

umm... extra patties? yes. Vomitile Projectile? No. lol OMG! i never had Mexican food in LA! Now i REALLY need to go back soon. there were a few things i never got to see or have but next time, i'm def gonna cover it. One of them was to get to have a coffee in a diner where they shot a scene from a film. Next time, though.

haha nah, u're good. i completely understood everything. unless i too am being distracted by the music on my playlist lol Stone Roses are cool. I wanna see them live if they still do shows. They def are hard to find for Karaoke but i agree that they don't have the best karaoke-type songs. I just recently got into John Mayer's new album. Don't think they make great karaoke songs either lol

feels weird to comment on here and on facebook. lol. but yeah...good choice not to go to disneyland actually. i just asked because it's the thing to do when you come to l.a....but it's really only fun for 12 year olds...even though i plan to go sometime this winter. lol. what amusement parks do they have in ny? do you go to any of those? sorry, i've only been there once lonnngg time ago, so i'm totally clueless as to what's there.

and yeah, i'm not much of a gambler either. when i went to vegas...i gambled away $10..and my hands were shaking. at least with alcohol, i get drunk...but when i gamble i just lose money. but vegas is fun for other things and i have fun whenever i go.

oh and by the way, the in & out thing...did you know about their "secret" menu? and actually you can order more meat if you want to. my guy friends used to go there and order 6 patties and have contests on who can finish it first. well, they did that with everything...$20 worth of $1 tacos from the trucks parked on the side of the street. i joined them once, and ended up throwing up in the gutter. that's always fun. next time you come to l.a. maybe you could try that. lol.

sorry if what i wrote doesn't really make sense...i was distracted by listening to the stone roses on your playlist. i lovee that band. i could never find anything of theirs on karaoke, but it'd probably won't be good karaoke music anyway.

i stayed for 5 days. not very long but i couldn't take off from work for more than that. lol didn't get to see disneyland but i didn't really wanna anyway. THINKIN about vegas. Im not so much of a gambler since luck is never on my side lol I seriously wanna go back to LA, like, THIS weekend! i miss it so much. i wouldn't mind starting all over in LA lol

haha it def had a surreal effect when meeting everyone from the site. and did i spring my english accent on u too?? my bad lol When i get in the chipperest of moods, my fake english accent comes out like its the real deal. I think i'm an Englishman at heart haha U left pretty early no?

LOL taylor swift? totally didn't notice that! My visit was amazing. Too short of a trip. I really miss it already. I have to say that the very thing that really hit me good in my heart was meeting you guys out at the event; and to meet friends in a city i've never been to. It all really left me feeling that I've strongly bonded with the city. I wish we had more time to talk to each other at the event though, i feel bad for not getting myself around the tables as often. Next time though. =) i'm gonna try to plan for a trip early next year to San Fran, maybe, with a day trip back to LA or something. We can all have another meetup!

lol aww, fallin asleep at the computer? yeah, i've been sorta away from the sites as of late too. =/

I ENJOY mainstream country. Guess cuz it's probably very new to me and I've never listened to country before really. Bluegrass is kinda fun to listen to at times but i don't think i can put myself through it very much. modernism class? that a music class or u talkin about the art movement? John Coltrane is my most favorite jazz musician. Him and the great Miles Davis. Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Kurt Elling, and Grover Washington are very good artists too. chek em out on playlist.com As for swing, Benny Goodman!

argh, so much drama goin on right now. =( it's kinda y i've been away from facebook and WAH as of late. it doesn't all surround me; there's my best friend who's been going through a real downer and she's been confiding in me and vise versa. other than that, my social life is creeping back up =D how u doin?

  • Jennifer

sorry it's taken me a long time to respond...i got a part time job and that on top of school...i'll log on here...and then fall asleep at the computer. lol.

i loooove musicd of all kinds too...not so much into mainstream country, but i love folk and a lot of roots rock...because for some reason i loove the sound of the banjo. i would take it up, but i know that i wouldn't commit to it. lol. i had a phase when i was really into 40s/50s music...so the 20's big band/swing doesn't sound strange to me at all. i recently got into jazz when i took a modernism class and we would listen to it during class. could you recommend some artists?

so, what have you been up to?

  • Takeru V.

yeah i'm that way as well. i also don't have any one total favorite bands like most people do. I don't really follow bands as much either. I could listen to any song made by any artist of almost any genre. i think thats a pretty open way to experience music, no? i really really appreciate jazz more than any music out there. Well.. that and film scores. Those two i am a sucker for. but i LOVE 90's rock too and some contemporary hip hop. In high school, i was very much into metal. that was my metal faze lol then i progressed to trance/techno. one lil thing i don't often tell people is that i'm also into big band & swing music from the 20's lol strange huh? have u ever had any music-inspired fazes?

  • Jennifer

i have phases where i'm into different eras/styles of music, but yeah i looove 90s rock. but my taste in music is all over the place, really. looking at your playlist you seem to be the same way, but is there any kind that you like the most?

  • Takeru V.

ah, thanks for the rec! i'll be sure to check em' out real soon. u're into 90's rock?

the last time i made aerial moves off a couch, I was asked to "chill out or get out" by one of the server dudes. haha i've calmed down a bit.

LO AWESOME! I need to do that sometime. I haven't checked craigslist in a while but I've done plenty of job searching on that site. it's okay, when it comes to that but it sucks most of the time because a lot of the jobs are either low or nonpaid. kinda useless, dontchya think? My cousin got me that book for my birthday. picked it up at a small bookstore down town. total surprise gift, really.

ohh buddy holly's probably their best one, but my favorite is say it ain't so. every song off their first album's great...and the second album, pinkerton, is definitely my favorite...

table dance? lololol! it depends where i am and who i'm with when i karaoke...which is pretty rare anyway...but if it's with friends in a room then i'll jump on couches and stuff. lol.

no! i've never written a missed connections ad. i only go there to read them. although, i've come close to writing a rant on there a couple of times about some d-bags who's pissed me off that day. do you check out craigslist often? oh and by the way, how did you come across that comic?

  • Takeru V.

haha ah there's nothin to be ashamed of! i just recently got into Weezer. Could ya recommend me songs?? we sang Buddy Holly. I wanted to sing Undone (The Sweater Song) but my friends wanted nothing to do with it lol. We'd definitely be a force, you and I. Karaoke champs!

LOL ah ok, i was about to say, "yo, c'mon folks! show some love here!" for leavin' ya. At least Athena has a pic of you in action. that's cool. You seem like the calm karaokeier. I can get a little too over the top in some instances. like... table dancing. but NOT what you're thinking! i just run all over sometimes.

That's right! De Niro's in it. It's a really weird movie but it's enjoyable. It has that serious/fun mix to it that makes it a unique movie experience. De Niro's kinda funny in it, actually.

    o. m. g. aw man... that's just way too much, jenn. haha only in the slightest did I think u would have any interest in the book but boy was i surprised to heat that! u're welcome!! =D  i've never looked up those missed connections ads before. Never even knew they exist. I took a look this morning and couldn't help but laugh at some of them, trying to imagine some hilarious comic to go with it. It's such a fun book to read. i'm two comics away from finishing it and i think i'd like to reread most of them again and again and again.

lol do you write up missed connection ads too? or do u only like to read them?

omg! what weezer song did you sing?! they used to be my favorite band but now i'm kind of ashamed to admit that because of their last couple of albums. if we karaoked together, there'd be no stopping us! lol!

no one bailed out on me. it's just that when it was time for me to sing my second song, it was late and everyone left by then. it's all good though, since they're strangers and i'll never see them again. haha.

i've heard of brazil, but i've never actually watched it...i'll definitely rent it...i think robert de niro's in it, right?

and OMG! how could i have missed that comic book? i LOVE comics!! and i only go to craigslist for the missed connections! it's perfect! thanks for the recommendation!

oooooh thooose kinds of casinos! i had no idea some casinos in the states were eligible to let 18 year olds play. nice! i guess... lol

Come on Eileen! oh wow that's another cool 90's song i wish i remembered. there was a weezer song i sang and a blink 182 song as well. aw man, if we ever get to karaoke together it would be so much fun! =D awww sorry to hear they bailed out on ya. a room full of strangers?? not pretty? did somethin' go down?? do explain! My guilty pleasure song is Flagpole Sitta and Semi Charmed LIfe... both of which i didn't get to sing.

thanks! and the movie MUST have the song in it. If u can feel the excitement in that song, that's how i'd like to translate it for the film. there's just gotta be excitement. ever seen Brazil??  yeah i can be that way. but i've harbored this for about a year now. i don't think i'll ever abandon it. it's just way too big of a project to actually work on right now. there's more that i'd like to work on that i can realistically accomplish now, instead.

oi, been meaning to ask you, there's this other smaller film idea i'm working on now, which was influenced from a book that i'm reading. it's called I Saw You... ever heard of it?

    http://missedconnectioncomics.blogspot.com/

It's such a great comic book. full of hilarious, tormented, sad, loving and pathetic stories. i totally recommend it, even if u're not a comic book fan.

oh the indian reservation casinos...well the ones that i know of are all around san diego county, mostly. i know there's a place called The Turning Stone in Verona, NY....i don't know quite where that is...but i've heard my dad and my uncles mention it before. i think it's 18 and up.

no! i didn't get to sing any elvis songs! i only sang that one in front of everybody and then come on eileen (don't hate! it's my guilty pleasure) after everyone left to a room full of strangers. not pretty. lol.

that's a really good idea for the movie and i definitely think that it's one worth developing! i think it'd be a lot of fun to do a rendition of that if you write it up! lol. but at the same time i know how you can have soo many different ideas and find it hard to commit to one. i struggle with that sometimes.

maybe if i write it up, u can make me an artist's rendition of the song! =D

wow, no kidding. where did you go for that?

seriously. that's some strong pisces connection there haha aw u got nervous? u were singing infront of the whole bar, right? i'm used to singing in booths with friends. only a couple times have i got up to sing in front of a crowd in a bar. scary times. LOL oh man... tell me u sang at least ONE elvis song, if u didn't sing All Shook Up. You singing cheap trick AND all shook up woulda just killed me lol

um, it was gonna be some sort of serious/fun/sci-fantasy/futuristic film. That's all i know. I don't have a plot nor do I have the themes but i took some of the lyrics and literally imagined them as i read it. A guy who can't sleep because in his dreams, the dream police try to hunt him down. not sure. but i felt it had to deal with insomnia, Big Brother-type issue in the world where dreaming is outlawed, and in the people's minds are "reader" where if one constantly dreams, then they will be hunted down subconsciously, followed by an arrest (in the reality) and prison sentence. that was the main idea but i haven't figured out backstory or actual themes and philosophy, etc. but i wanted to make it in the spirit of the Back to the Future movies, where it the material was serious AND fun.

oh oooppps i meant native american casinos...yeah, some let you gamble at 18...

no way!!!!!!!!!!!!! whoa, pisces connection....lol! i can't believe you sang a cheap trick song too! surrender's a great song and so is dream police. i don't know if anybody was singing along with me...i was nervous so everything's kind of a blur. lol. weirrrdd i was seriously considering singing "all shook up" as well.

what kind of film were you gonna make with the "Dream Police" idea? i get that way sometimes too...like if i'm listening to a song, sometimes i'll think of a painting or a comic or something that i wanna do based off that...

    o wow u've been to India? ?

LOL i bet u make a very convincing pirate. sometimes my mock English accent can be a lil obnoxious too but i do it when i'm in a "i don't give a shit about a care in the world" kinda mood lol friends just don't understand sometimes, don't they?

NO WAY! ! You sang a Cheap Trick song??? I sang Surrender! HA. I love "I want you to want me." that and "Dream Police." i was thinkin of making a film based off that song. did you have peeps sing along with you? out of my lil group of friends, i think i was the only one to sing Surrender cuz they didn't know cheap trick very well. they suck. haha i also sang some Elvis songs; Hound Dog and All Shook Up and a buncha 90's schtuff.

(btw, sorry about the two-times question below: i remembered trying to delete the former cuz I knew u karaokied lol)

yup yup...gambling at 18...some indian casinos allow it...

pi day is cool, but talk like a pirate day is super awesome...september 19th! speaking of dorkdom, ...i even have an eye patch to make my performance even that more authentic...but it's probably reallly really obnoxious, so i only wear it when i'm celebrating with friends (and a little drunk). lol.

oh, for the karaoke, i sang "i want you to want me". lol. what karaoke songs did you sing that night?

wait. were u able to play games there at 18???

thanks! i'm def lookin' forward to having a wonderful night there. =D

thank you! oh yeahhh i forgot that i was born on pi day! if i couldn't get talk like a pirate day, i guess pi day's good enough. lol.

i've been to a couple of casinos when i turned 18, but i've never been to vegas or anything like that. atlantic city sounds like a lot of fun! hope you have a good time!

whoa whoa whoa!! ur birthday was on pi day! ! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, JENNIFER!!!

aw, i wish i was there. i had to work that day but at least i was able to karaoke when you guys karaokied lol we did that from 1am to 5am east coast time, so i'm sure we were both belting lyrics at the same time lol

for ur birthday u partied with ur cousins too, eh? that must be fun to party with fam like that. =)

other than that, been working. i'm gonna go to Atlantic City this weekend with a few of my friends. never been there to play any of the games so this'll be my first casino experience. ever been to a casino before?

i did get to go to the la meetup, which was really fun...was bummed not seeing you there.

i'm glad to hear that you had a fun birthday! dinner with the family, then partying hard...best of both worlds. birthdays are meant for that. it seems that a lot of people are born in march...all my cousins are...and one of them turned 18 so we all went out and partied hard right after the family dinner. lol. so what have you been up to since then?

  • Takeru V.

aw sorry to hear about the anxiety from school. did u get to go to the LA meet up??

on my birthday, i usually like to just have a simple dinner with the fam, so that's what i did. but on the weekend and last night, we partied hard for all our friends' March birthdays. like last night, for instance, we partied pretty good. or at least i did. I pre-pre-gamed BEFORE the official bar meet up haha it was fun though. lots of dancing and lots of karaoke. it was real fun!

LOL so ur room is flooded with post-its, eh? too bad u don't have a mac (i assume). It's got a post-it program called "stickies". U don't ever have to use the real thing =D

nice! what kind of cartoon work r u into? do u also like book illustrations? like Where the Wild Things Are? and Land of the Giants? (I think that's what it's called). if u know the "Wild Things" book then, then u oughtta know that it's being made into a live-action movie!

ah, sometimes i'm the same (i can't seem to stop listening to Life in Technicolor [with the lyrics]) . but that's usually so with film soundtracks or original scores. lol i know, strange. but whenever i'm in my writing element, i'll just start playing a soundtrack till i'm finished with whatever it is that i'm working on. lately, i've listened to the Dark Knight, Letters from Iwo Jima and Pan's Labyrinth. Now i'm trying to compile a list of music for that Multicultural-themed script idea i have.

ah, i wish i had a license and lived where u live so i could just drive out north. since u've been here to nyc, i'm sure u can recall the tight streets and endless traffic. well before I nailed my new job recently, i haven't gone out as much so that i could save some extra pennies and keep working on music video ideas while reconnecting with my film school buddies. but usually, i'd go to the cinemas--if with a friend then we'd go to a cafe and just talk about the film and then talk about other things. usually that's what i like to do, go to a cafe with a friend. other days i'll feel like going to the MoMA on "Free Fridays After 8" or go to a sports bar once in a while to catch an anticipated game with friends. some of my friends likes to throw house parties but i'm always bored by it. but i haven't seen some of them for so long, so i think i should start going out to their parties more often. in the non-winter seasons, u'll find me cycling a lot around manhattan.

    what about you?

  • Jennifer

lol! i'm always starting and leaving projects alllll the time...i also leave post it notes to get working on a certain project---my room is FLOODED with post its. hahaha. so i end up tossing them out. :( it makes more sense to write these things in my sketchbook, so i started doing that...which helps since i carry that around all the time and i'll work on it every time i get a chance. trying to be more organized for the new year. lol.

i was thinking about working on a project with a multicultural/multiethnic theme as well...i'll probably combine it with some, like, cartooning...since that's what i'm into now.

i love coldplay and i used to listen to "the scientist" alll the time...yeah, until i moved on to whatever else...lol. but yeah, fave albums changing all the time...cuz i'll get obsessed and listen to it until i can't stand it.

weekends have been busy....and i'm kinda feeling like a loser lately, since i've been cooped up working on paintings or watching trashy tv shows. should go out, but there's never much to do in the valley. could drive out to downtown...but lately i've been fed up with the traffic.

living in new york must be fun...i've visited once a few years back. what do you do for fun over the weekends?

  • Takeru V.

yeah u def should! there aren't that many artists here on the site so I'm always interested in seeing the artsy side to some of the members here. the bad thing for me, when it comes to changing small projects like that, is when i don't finish them. 0_o That happen to you? I really hate leaving unfinished scripts behind. So i make a note to finish them when i can. if not, i just keep post it notes in my comp as a reminder that the ideas/notes r still there. lol

Thanks so much, Jennifer! The films have really really inspired me and as of late, I've been growing this strong sense of pride for the multicultural/multiethnic. Are you working on any big personal projects urself?

LOL u change ur favorite albums on certain days? inter-resting. =P i like some songs by smash pump, but i never followed them. i don't ever really follow bands or have any real favorites. I tend to listen to Coldplay a lot as well as the KIllers but i'd hardly call them favorites.

    how was ur weekend?

i don't really post my stuff online, although i probably should start doing that. lol. intricate, yah...haha..i go from one thing to another really easily, but when i'm working on a project on illustrator i can spend hourrsss making little lines and squigglies and adding random animals and stuff. my eyesight's gotten so bad from that. eek.

wow! your project sounds cool--and those are really great films to be inspired by. do the right thing is such a good one. good luck on that project cuz it sounds great.

btw, cool playlist you have on here...adore is my favorite smashing pumpkins album and urban hymns might be my favorite album...on certain days at least, haha.

LOL wow, i'm the same way with my screenwriting, really. I get this one idea for a project, take massive amount of notes, then get this other idea for another project and make notes on THAT. it's chaotic at best. haha I suppose we can easily shift interests, no?

ur stuff sounds cool! r u up on deviant artists or something? wait.. i just found out what vector art means... sounds meticulous! lol what kind of designz do u do?

aw thanks for checkin' them out! u went on my blogspot or journal? I haven't updated either in a while. =( ah, and to answer ur question, i do mostly sound production/post production work but i also write a lot. I've been gathering ideas on a short film i'd like to make about the multiracial community. I know, sounds funny, right? but i was inspired by Spike Lee's Jungle Fever and Do The Right Thing. So i want to make a film within a similar realm of those great films. =)

lol...actually that's true about pisces...most of the pisces i know went on to become interior decorators or writers or something in the artistic field. um, my illustration stuff really is all over the place just because i'll start something and then be totally interested in something else. lol. but i do a lot of vector art and character designs...

what kind of film projects are you working on? by the way, i checked out your blog and omg the pesto pasta and grilled chicken breasts looked soo good...i'm gonna have to try that one out.

LOL i knew i wouldn't be surprised. Pisceans are the most artistic of all zodiac signs, i think. That's cool that u illustrate. What kind of illustration do you do?

LOL @ "staring at the microwave." reminds me of my cousin's pint-sized dog who likes to watch the oven, attentively, during Thanksgiving.
