Thats cool Takeru! Form the start your story sound a bit like a male version of the Joy Luck Club which I think is really cool, Is still havent finished the book but it is one of my favorite movies and my fiance actually said it was one of the best books he has ever read. And no seriously I would be happy to make you something whenever you want let me know =) So the things I can make are Dorayaki, Taiyaki but mine tend to turn out more pankakey, yokan, Kasutera and I created my own version of pocky! lol As for intrests I just like creating. My whole goal in life is to be a bohemian and just create music and pretty things and just try create beauty in the world. Lol that was the lamest answer ever but I guess how I feel! =D

thanks! i haven't gotten the gist of the story yet, but i want it to have a man who spends a moment with his ancestral fathers in a game of cards. Just gotta figure out how the story unfolds and what the themes are. oh wow that would be awesome! but i don't wanna put u outta ur way to do that for me. maybe i'll take ya up on the offer someday. =D i know what u mean. the job i'm doing isn't exactly what i want to be doing but it's something, and i'm trying to figure things out whilst i'm there. what r some of your interests?

    LOL i hope not! =P

yep. i'm gonna actually call up the guy this week and he's gonna introduce me to the crew and talk about contract particulars and what i've been interested in writing on. Haven't wrote anything yet, but i've been researching a lot over the net, looking for things to write about. I'm gonna try to give an angle on ethnically mixed artists if i can find them. Stand up performers, singers, artists, actors, etc. Then also write about social themes and how we coexist. It can kind of get philosophical there if it has to lol. but i'm excited!

I saw your site! it's very nice. Are you planning on adding more items to the site? And are you making these delicious treats??? okay, nm, i just saw your blog. very cool, Erina. Keep it up. Love the "christmas" ornaments. How did you make em?

Hmmm, bow down... yes, that sounds about right! =P haha i can't imagine what it would be like to go day after day of people bowing down to you, in respect to royalty or something. being who i am, raised how i was, it's kind of strange to think about it. but there are peeps who grew up with people much older than them bowing down to them. crazy to think, no? i think my mother wouldn't mind it, though, if it meant having some 5 star chef make her meals everyday for the rest of her life haha. i've been keeping myself busy writing. i think i may write freelance for a multicultural website. i just got approved earlier this afternoon via eMail. so i'm gonna back to them tonight and let them know i'm very much interested. That sounds very cool, Erina! i'd like to check it out sometime. pass me the link when you have the chance. the shop's only an online gig? ever thinkin of opening up your own walk-in shop? u're no dork, just a geek lol i kid i kid!

haha hooraay!! I'll post it up on the site or send you the link. i studied film/video. I graduated a few months back. What i really like about Cormac McCarthy is that he's very visual and he can easily make you imagine what's described on the page. He writes action very well too--not like gun shooting and stuff. He also doesn't write in chapters nor does he add quotes to the dialogue, which is weird. But when you read the lines you know who's saying it. He almost has that way of describing things like Camus did in the Stranger. Simple yet effective. The only Philip Roth book i've ever read was Pourtney's Complaint. But i remember how much fun it was to read, so I want to grab another book of his. American Pastoral? thanks for the rec. Are you a fan of short stories? Or Shakespeare? well it's good that they turned around and felt differently about your parents. Have you ever met your grandparents? I've met only my grandfather. I felt a little bad that my grandmother had died just a year before becuz i never had the chance to meet her. As a kid they would always send us a big box of goodies from their department store they used to own and we'd always send them tons of pictures and drawings and cards. My grandfather's like 98 now but he's still moving around like he's 50. He wants to go here, wants to go there. My dad told me it's driving his sister nuts sometimes (my aunt lives in Sapporo near my grandfather while my dad and his two brothers live in Asahikawa). i got to check out Yumiko Kayukawa, very very unique. I wish i knew how to read those characters. DId she start out doing fashion sketches or something? Hmm, my top favorite is an oldie--Caravaggio. I just love the way he plays with light with his subjects. I like him, Salvador Dali, Van Gogh, Jim Lee lol, and Alex Ross. I don't know that many modern artists, sadly. I recently looked through a book of a series by a guy named Zhang Huan. Very very cool stuff. Look up his series "Blessings". Very deep. Thanks, and you have yourself a good day as well!

yay for long posts! =D First of all I would love to see your thesis! What do you study? and you know I have Cormac Mccarthy books but I have yet to read them but since you give a good recommendation, I will deifintly move them up in my reading queue! Have you ever read any Philip Roth? If you ever get a chance read American Pastoral, it sarts off a little slow but its a really good intense book.Im so glad to have someone to booktalk with! Well haveto keep giving each other recommendations ok? yay! You know I think after I was born my mothers family became ok with my dad, I think now they really like him =) Yeah low brow art is a little strange, but if you are looking up the art definitly check out TaraMcphersen, Yumiko Kayukawa, Junko Mizuno and Sas Christensen, they are some of my favorites! Who are some of your favorite artists? And that youtube video was awesome, what a creative and cool way to make trash into treasure! ok gotta go to work =( but have a good day and write back soon!

haha nah don't worry about it. I sometimes write books on other people's pages, so if You feel bad then I must feel even worse! lol That is a sweet story actually. Your dad acted so much on emotions and instinct. Very bold decision he made but a decision well worth it. I can't imagine what he'd have felt if she turned him down! What does your mothers family think of the marriage after all these years? did they accept it after a while? I love the Raven too. I even wrote and shot my thesis film based on the Raven, A Midnight Dreary. If you're interested i'll give you the link to see it. The raven's really good so I can understand a lot of people liking it the most. It's just so creepy and tormenting. DOn't think i've ever heard of the Roald Dahl Omnibus. I like creepy and strange though! The last book i read was No Surrender: My 30 Year War written by a Japanese WWII veteran. It's really good. Really good. It's a pretty average length read, no more than 300 pages, and is just all about the veteran's survival to uphold duty for 30 years not knowing WWII had ended. My friend and I were thinking of adapting it into a feature film. I finished Cormac McCarthy's The Road before that. That's pretty good too. R you into Cormac McCarthy? You know what, i haven't heard of lowbrow art either. i just looked it up and it seems very surreal. You have to check this out on youtube-----http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH6xCT2aTSo-----what do you think of it? I can't believe I didn't run into this guy's work at all.

Yeah seriously everything about that movie is perfect! Lol my dad had to take and Japanese to English dictionary on all their dates. Its actually a way sweet story. My mom was just visting CO on a study abrod trip for the summer and met my dad through I guess a friend of her host family they went on a couple dates and fell in love even though they couldnt really comunicate. Two weeks later my mom left for Japan and my dad couldnt take it so he bought a ticket to Japan with all his savings found my mom and asked her to marry him after only two weeks! Of course my moms family was furious but she said yes and my dad said he would take care of evrything in America while my got ready to mover which took a year but my dad studied Japanese dilligently and wrote my mom everyday for that year they were apart and they have been married for 25 years now. Wow sorry that was a long story!! oh but I know that story, it is a really good one! mine is probably The Raven I know thats lame but I really just always loved it, If you like those kind of stories you should check out the Roald Dahl Omnibus, it these short stories Roald Dahl made but they are for adults they are way creepy and strange! Have you read any other good books lately? And hmm, I really like low brow art but I mean really I think all art is inspiring, how about you? Wow Im soo sorry this message is so long! I talk too much! lol

Nice@! That's about how i think of the movie as well. And the fact that there doesn't seem to be another movie quite like it. I loved Kevin Spacey and Thora Birch in that movie. I like that little story about your father learning Japanese from your mother. How did they communicate at all when they first met? lol Thanks! My favorite Poe story... hmmm, I think it would have to be the Tell Tale Heart. It's the most visual and packs so much atmosphere. I love his use of sound as well. i don't think i've ever read anything quite like it. What about you? And what kind of art r u into?

Nice to meet you too! Oh American Beauty is one of your favorites? Well that makes you automatically super cool in my books! =) You know I really just love evrything about that movie but I guess the biggest thing it just goes to show you really dont know anyone on the surface, until you really get to know someone youre judgement can just be totally wrong. Lol I must say I have gotten more used to takoyaki I wouldnt touch it at all when I was little my mom loves it though, I can tolertate it! how about you? You have AWESOME taste in authors, whats your favorite Poe story?
