it's interesting, the story you brought up. mixies come in all sorts of variety and it's continuing to tally up (the different types of mixes) so i don't think there will necessarily be ONE dominant gene pool in the mixed race community. I dunno, i'm no doctor or anything in the medical field so i can't really say. if i were John Moore, i'd be a little upset that someone would use my blood for tests, experimentation, etc without my permission on a public scale. BUt if i knew it would have the potential to save lives, i'd definitely consider going forth with it as long as I and the medical entities have a complete understanding. how did the scientists 'steal' his cells?
that is the thing about our country. we're a capitalist nation and things like that can happen. There has been some speculation that bone marrow transplant can also be a factor in curing mental illnesses? or depression? something like that. i have to relook that up. in any case, if we somehow find a gene (from a mixe) that'll lead to a breakthrough in medical research, i just hope that it doesn't drastically change the way the world views us. we're no master race or anything like that. and i def don't want to be put on a pedestal or anything of that sort.
Yeh imagine "HAH PAH" with smelly breath in somebody's face...puahaha
....today my class session on business ethics covered up on the issue whether or not it is okay to patent life such as human genes and microbes. UCLA scientists and researchers stole some cells from John Moore that are designed to grow more white blood cells than average without having John's consent. They saved a lot of people already. John found out about it and sued but he lost just because he "didn't have ownership of his cells." Shocking isn't it? I think it should be a head up for everyone here with possibly unique genes. Doctors already got my blood drawn out during my horrible condition. Because hapas are unique species, I'm feeling little concerned for some of them who may have potential human genes that will make breakthroughs in medical for millions of people and will be capitalized. I support MixedMarrow drive and I just want to make sure hapas have some awareness of the consequences after their blood is drawn out and analyzed...that's all.
Job for fun, probably morning stocker at Petsmart. If my memory serves me well, I ll be probably hunt for tax preparation. I will see.
Well...just a warning, if you end up in many unsuccessful relationships you are prone to anxiety disorder in the future.
oh i'm not moving out west.. at least not anytime soon. Just a brief visit to see some friends and for Athena's MixedMarrow drive. I was actually thinking of going to a Dodgers' game there; they'll be playing their crosstown rivals, the Angels! Don't think i'll be able to make it though, since i promised to meet up with some people that evening. It'll have to be next time, i suppose lol
Are you looking for a specific job in the field or something part time and just on the side to get some flow?
HAHA no it's fine. I was seeing someone a couple of months ago but it ended up being not so great, so i had to move on from her. i think now i'm just taking my time. i'm in no rush to get into a relationship at this moment.
bad economy in Greece? no i haven't =( And yeah, the oil spill is a major bummer. lol since u cracked a joke i have to tell u this one that someone wrote on their facebook status -- "They always say there's more fish in the sea, right? But with this oil spill, how does it effect my chances?" LMAO! felt so bad laughing so hard but i couldn't help it...
Haha, you got it mate! Not Kosher! Not that usual word I hear lol
That's great to hear about you moving to LA. I had some good memories there looking at graffiti everywhere, watching dodgers games, ... I think I should go back and visit LA someday.
I'm still in summer school. I plan to get a job for the summer. Not sure which place would accept me for the summer.
You're still single? Don't give up. Praying won't hurt. Funny, I just wrote that to another guy. Isn't that weird?
Have you heard about bad economy in Greece? It is a disaster. Not to mention to our oil spill in gulf. I guess oil is free for us to collect and free dead birds are for our meals. lol.
haha Hapa Guardian? no problem, mate. I haven't been on this site in a while myself. thanks for the lessons -- i had forgotten the ranks, since my dad was one (Japanese scouts).
exit canal hole? y does that not sound kosher, dude? haha
what was the idiot way, if i may ask? lol it must take one huge idiot to mispronounce 'hapa.' i mean, c'mon! lol Things have been well. I guess since 9 months ago, lots of things happened. Got to see LA back in December, moved out to live with my best friend, reworking an old script to make into a feature, working on a doc (sadly, i'm working at a slow pace with it though), been dating here and there but still single lol and finally going out to LA again this June for a few days. How about you, man?
Hey Takeru my Hapa Guardian what's up? sorry for taking so long. School is a killer for me. Let me go back 9 months and reply your comment. hehe...what the hell was I talking about??! LOL I can't believe I mentioned something about Boy Scout. Well...I hope my memory serves me right. After being a cub scout, a boy scout starts with no rank badge then climbs up to each ranking in the following: tenderfoot, second class, first class, star, life, and finally eagle which is considered as the most honorable for all boy scouts. Psyche! I don't really use it often. Same thing with "ailmentary exit canal hole."
I ordered a hoodie with that custom text on for $40 excluding shipping cost.
I kinda got sick of people staring at my chest saying hapa in an idiot way.
LMAO Not at all, apparently. could ya tell me more about it?
Oh hell yeah, if they had this system earlier on we'd be high up in the mountains with points.I wonder if it had really made a profound effect for the site, in terms of activity. That was the reason why they made it, so that peeps would use the site more often. haha u still say psyche? haven't used that one since i was 9 or something.
lol I think you might not be familiar with Boy Scout stuff when I said "life rank badge", are you?
Yeh, we'll see how many points I will receive based upon how FRIENDLY they are. If the "points" application was already in effect in the beginning, I would have gotten over 1000 pts by now. :P Is it me or am I in wrong location? X-\ I guess I have to be deported. PSYCHE!
Well it wasn't like I went out of town for a vacation. lol I was at summer school. After that, I was ill then went back to do some errands such as taking care of my stuff, reading books, doing some activities for my church and hanging out.
Things had changed here I noticed. Now, I got a Star Rank badge. Lol. Life Rank badge here I come.
lol he def looked nothing like him, but sometimes i don't think looks aren't all that important if they embody the spirit of that person. then there's the actor's interpretation of the man. the movie was pretty cool though. i have Lee's DVD collection at home and one of the films is a doc on him -- before i watched it, i thought Bruce was full blooded chinese but learned that he was also part German. that was quite interesting.
Yeah, Louie Philly. i was never a big fan of his movies. Never saw La Bamba though. lol i looked up Sam Witwicky and got the character from Transformers. did u mean Shia Labeouf? He kinda is, now that u mention it. No other folks in our age-range are starring in movies like he is. There's Emile HIrsch, who's probably the next one, but he hasn't been in that many BIG movies as Shia.
ah, well he was only nominated for one but he was also nominated for a Globe and won another all for The Bridge on the RIver Kwai. never saw that film though.
we just lost TWO more players to the DL list. So far, the starting guys are down to just David Wright and Luis Castillo with a platoon of left fielders since the mets isn't sure Sheffield will be starting every game at left. And yet, we somehow survived our road trip and took two away from the Nats. We have a team fulla bench players basically, as a friend put it the other day. Hopfully we can hold onto our place in the NL east until the starting guys show up to pull us through!
r u gonna catch the UEFA Champions League Final ?? it's today! Manchester United vs. Barcalona FC. It's gonna be quite a match-up in Rome. Unfortunately, i'll be helping with the office's move to Brooklyn all day so i won't even have time to check out scores on my phone! =( so fuckin pissd.
Yes, I know Jason Scott Lee. Actually, I didn't recognize his good
acting and his potential for a big hit. I personally think he was not
a good pick for Bruce Lee movie, though he got some marital art and
"close" look to Bruce Lee. Do you know Lou Diamond Philips, a half
Filipino actor? He made it to big hits while being disguised as a
Hispanic and other kinds of characters. You know Sam Witwicky?
Hollywood seems always picking him for many popular films such as
Indiana Jones, I Robot, Constantine, and Transformers. I'm starting to
think that he is the only actor representing our generation.
Interesting, I didn't know who Sessue Hayakawa was. Maybe I should
start watching some more AMC shows. lol. I believe Hollywood was less
corrupted in the past than today.
LOL, have you wondered how many? Uma Thurman in Kill Bill was
freaking awesome! Did you know that men tend to recall many actresses,
comparing to actors, as women remember many actors' names?
Inexperienced players on the field? Sounds like I will have a better
chance to make it on Mets' roster team when I try out. lol. If I make
it, I will give you free tickets for the most expensive seats. lol.
Angels seem to be abusive on my two fav teams lately.
yeah pretty much. We're beginning to see a change of scope in the entertainment industry, especially hollywood where we're finding more ethnic actors taking on roles in major films. It's not on the level that i'd like for it to be but it's getting there. Do you know Jason Scott Lee? He made quite a string of big hollywood films during the 90s and grew in popularity fairly well. but then he just disappered. kinda unfortunate. if he had continued on, most def other asian male actors would've been accepted into hollywood. but u know what's so damn interesting? In Hollywood during the silent era, a Japanese actor byt he name of Sessue Hayakawa. He was a very popular actor in hollywood and he was Japanese! an Asian man made POPULAR in hollywood during AND after the silent era. Even nommed for an oscar, i believe.
anyway, it seems like Chris has a thing for mixed, dangerous ladies in fast cars with big guns lol
as for the mets... they have tons of inexperience on the field right now and it's killing us. we need some outside help pronto. We have no power int he line up except for Wright and our fielding percentage has lowered since we lost a few guys to injuries. i think Murphy will have to play first and Sheffield out in Left, while Cora stays on SS and Santos behind the plate. I dont even know if Castro got injured as well. ARGH! now we're behind the damn phillies!
Ah, my brain must have been fried on the other night. You're saying in your article that entertainment industry is bringing in some foreign influences with foreign actors/actresses and probably foreign titles such as Speed Racer, Dragonbal Evolution, etc.
I think Dennis Henney also starred in 'Wolverine' didn't he?
Yeh Maggie Q is so fine. In fact, after watching Gen Y Cops, I rented out "Naked Weapon" with Maggie Q in it and was eager to see her more marital art. However, it turned out to be more 'risque' way beyond my holy American mind as if a nuclear bmob blew up inside my head. Mi3 was the third one I saw her again. Her driving a lamborghini was def awesome!
haha well Manny isn't playing. I feel your pain with Mets' poor defense as well as their management. Your comment on Mets' poor defense in facebook has truly amused me. It is truly the most remarkable comment I've ever seen from a fellow hapa in my whole life. haha jk.
Excuse me. Who are the real 'bums' in the last night game? haha
sorry i didn't get back to ur last wall post -- what exactly did you learn from my article? thanks for reading, btw. A coworker and I have a BIG one coming in this thursday. I'll keep ya posted, mate. I know u'll find it intriguing.
lol chris, shut your snout! haha jk Goodnes, i was incredibly pissed off last night. Their defense was a big joke, man. First off, i'm so bummed that we lost Delgado for the next two months, and second, we're playing guys who rn't used to the position they're playing; thus, errors!
hopefully tonight my team will turn around. but here's to hoping for a good series with your 'bums.' haha
lol hey both hyperlinks are accessible to your page. I read your article and learned new things about entertainment industry in US. Omg, you mentioned Maggie Q~! I first saw her in "Gen-Y-Cops" which I rented from Albertson, a grocery store in CA when I was 17. By that time, I didn't know she was a hapa. Not a lot of ppl know about her. I remember her well because she doesn't look like other Asian actresses. Did you know Edison Chen was a foreign actor for "Grudge 2"? I believe he is 1/8 portugese but his parents both look more chinese.
Yeh that's what I was wondering about. I thought it must have been a kind of revision made by the site leaders, then I got used to it. lol. It's been like this for almost 2 months. I didn't realize about it until you told me. lol. I'll fix my code later.
I did copy and paste but it didn't work. Maybe I should try again. Yeh links won't work on instant message box.
whoa, i think u need to check out ur overview page; ur comment box is alllll the way down. lol anyway, have u tried copying and pasting the link? i fear any links from this WAH site is killed. dunno y. it happens all the time.
uhhh.. they have their similarities in some ways. very subtle. my brother, however, who is a biiiig Bond fan, thinks Craig resembles more of Connery's. But i think i mentioned something like that before, that the two have similar brute. Nonetheless, I think there was something in the emotions that struck with Dalton's Bond and the iceyness in character. You might see it or not. I like subtleties.
is that movie preview, u're talking about, Layer Cake??? if so, on the DVD's commentary for that film, the director jokes about how Daniel Craig (in a certain shot) acts as if he's Bond. Then whaddaya know? A couple years later he is Bond.
Goldeneye was BRILLIANT! The scheme was a lil funny for a villain but it had memorable characters and a real strong Bond woman, whom I had a crush on after the movie came out lol. TWINE is pretty good too but I thought that actress who played Dr. Jones tarnished the thing. Great villain though--Renard.
Have u ever seen From Russia with Love? That's a good classic Bond film. Not much action but good chase film. I heard Thunderball's good. Never seen it though. And you can't beat Goldfinger.
Yeh I'm beginning to notice how strongly similar they (Quantum and Bourne) are to each other. Finally I got somebody to talk about Timothy Dalton. So, he is similar to Daniel Craig...Argh Got to watch that movie again lol. The funny thing I didn't realize my Kung Fu Hustle also has a preview movie starring Daniel Craig who I never thought he would be next James Bond.
Oh really? You choose Goldeneye as your favorite Bronsan-Bond film? It is hard for me to find which one is my favorite Bronsan-Bond film. Goldeneye has a good plot with a lot of various scenes. Tomorrow Never Dies has more jaw-dropping action scenes, but I feel its plot is simple and short. The World is Not Enough is just absolutely gorgeous with its theme music by Garbage, my favorite Bond music, but I don't understand why or how Bond managed to fly on the plane to an unfamiliar place, he could get caught easily. Die Another Day was given a edge with more technological gadgets and extreme cosmetic make up for the villian. lol. I think TWINE is my favorite Bronsan-Bond movie.
I cannot decide which one is my favorite since I haven't decided on which movie is the best for Moore, Daniel Craig, Connery, Dalton, and another bond actor. I will need to watch some more older Bond movies.
trust me. you will see a strong resemblance between Quantum and the last Bourne movie in terms of style. I love Daniel Craig - he brings a different kind of intensity to Bond. His style, though, remind me of Timothy Dalton's a bit. Dalton was very piercing in some ways, always feeling like the guy is just straight up pissed about something. That's what I admired about Dalton's Bond, especially in License to Kill. Not many people like that one but I really do. Bond going rogue, acting on emotion -- just like in Quantum of Solace. It was a revenge story.
I thought Brosnan was pretty good. He was more of an equal blend of Connery and Dalton with some of his own mixness thrown into it. He definitely had suave down, that's for sure, but I felt like he was always 'winking' at us. Like as if everything he did was no sweat. That made me think there wasn't much of a challenge in anything he did. LOVE Goldeneye though. My favorite Brosnan-Bond film.
I think the reason why there's a lot of talk that Craig is the best since Connery is because they brought edge to Bond. They were both very rough around the edges and unmerciful in many ways. You can tell their emotions are tucked away and always have this dark undercurrent. Especially in a time where they both didn't have much gadgets. If Brosnan's Bond had less gadgets then his roughness would've definitely stood out more, i feel. Moore was just havin' a laugh most of the time haha I liked him in The Man with The Golden Gun cuz u see him going up against somewhat of an equal. And the build up to their final scene together was just friggin awesome!
I still never got the chance to watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service, although I heard that Lazenby was like Broccoli's favorite actor for Bond. Connery was Ian Fleming's favorite I think. Ah whatever. haha Which Bond movie do you like the most??
Haha you got moves! I used my goofball face to make myself look exciting in one of those elves. lol
Ah interesting view on Quantum of Solace. I concur with what you've said about it. Actually, I haven't seen the 2nd and 3rd movies of Bourne. I've noticed there weren't a lot of Bond humor in that movie. In the beginning of the movie, Bond said something like "Did you enjoy the trip?" which I thought was cool yet humorous. What's so cool about Daniel Craig to me is that he looks very close to my father. It's kinda weird. It feels like my father is my hero. Another strange thing is that Daniel is also Pisces like my father.
Though he lacks Bond humor, Daniel Craig really did a good job in making a Bond character look ruthless. You know spying job is dangerous. Maybe the next Bond movie will try to include more Bond humor. I can conclude that Bond films are evolving from old times to new times. You have to understand that Sean Connery and Roger Moore performed in the Bond films during Cold War and the Era of Sex Revolution.
I thought Pierce Bronson was awesome in those previous Bond films. I don't feel identified with Roger Moore and Sean Connery because I wasn't familiar with the surroundings, tastes, and dialog from old days.
What do you think of Pierce Bronson, Sean Connery, and Roger Moore? (The other Bond actors suck)
Yeh I understand that she is busy flying around. She is gemini I think. Gemini is the type that doesn't like to stay in one place. She can take advantages in flying around while finding more hapas.
lol um... sometimes yes, but most times no. i like to describe things the way i remembered it and as detailed as I can be. guess that's the 'writer' in me lol.
Quantum of Solace had its moments but I thought it was less of a true Bond flick. I mean, it had the locale, it had the ladies, it had the bravura in its action but it lacked Bond style, finesse, and humor. What makes Bond films different from thte rest of the action films are def its style and humor. The brute grit was crazy good and thought it worked for Casino Royale but i felt it was trying to be too Bourne-ish. You can't deny that it took a lot of influence from the Bourne films -- especially with that apartment fight scene in Ultimatum.
yeah, man. I think we can all agree with that. That's just hard. I try to avoid places or situations like that as much as I can -- Usually parties that my friend invites me to; they're mostly jocky-frat boy parties. It's not that they pick on me or anything but i i just can't stand those kinds of dudes. Some of them may be cool and all but i dislike the whole beer pong subculture. i find it a bit trashy.
u included Venus, right? she's always busy flying around. Athena told me she thought it was a riot. we both couldn't stop laughing. i didn't know i had moves, yo! haha
Yeh, I sort of compressed my week story into an one-day story. I think a week story compressed into an one day story would be rather more entertaining. haha. When I look back at my old memories, they often go at the speed of light. Do you feel the same thing?
Quantum of Solace has been carried out in a brillant, new way. I thought the plot is good enough though it contains many action scenes in different location like my story in Seattle. It is really cool to see its plot came after the plot of Casino Royale.
Good question, mate. I would say they are Japanese-Japanese if they stick together or glance at me longer than usual while Japanese-American take a quick glance or walk solo. I also think Chinese ppl are fun to hang out with. I tend to look into my interior rather than the exterior around other people. I tell you what, sometimes it is hard to live as a hapa when you want to hang out with people in where ethnicities are concerned or judged.
Ah that film I made haha. I still haven't gotten any response from others. Well I figure they might be busy.
damn man, your time with your friend sounded awesome! It's kinda funny though, i'm sure this all took a matter of days for you guys to do all this but from how u described it, it kinda sounded like u two rushed through it all in just ONE day haha I can imagine u two going to the club, bop around for like 10 minutes, then, "alright, we gotta go." Then u DASH out of the club, bumping into that homeless guy. haha awesome man. What did u think of Quantum of Solace??
dude... don't complain. Just be happy those girls were checkin yous out. haha could u tell if they were Japanese-Japanese or Japanese-American? as for me, i know this sounds weird... but i tend to gravitate towards Chinese girls than Japanese. I KNOW! WEIRD! but tis true lol. My dad kinda smiles it off and says 'you're a strange kid,' but he knows all about appreciating women of another ethnicity. haha we have that kind of banter sometimes but it's fun. then my mom does the same thing, but she's more like, 'y don't u find urself a Latin girl! You like those quiet types, don't u?' but then i really don't see what that has to do with ethnicity, really. lol anyone can be a quiet person no matter where they're from.
ANYWAY, that documentary idea u mentioned sounds interesting. I'm pretty sure there have been tons of instances where that's happen.
and yes! i saw ur films man. Athena called me up that night actually and i watched it with her on the other line and i couldn't stop laughing. Well done, mate. I have a friend who also showed me the same video he made of himself. Funny shite haha
Lol, I can make my glare look worse. Well I tried to take a glance at further distance rather than just staring at the left edge of the profile pic. lol
hey have you seen the films I've made? I kinda tried to make up for missing a meet up in SF. oh well.
Hey Tak yeh I know there's crazy stuff out there such as US giving aid to Osama for fighting against Russia then later Osama's strike against US. In the past 58 years, US had been backing elected-officials in foreign countries who were responsible for deaths of thousands lives....many stories ahead.
Hey I'm wondering if there are more documentary on hapa children being abandoned by American fathers and suffering some forms of abuses during the Vietnam War. I believe this may be important to any hapa because it could have been us.
Thanksgiving weekend was awesome. I felt a bit bad when I found out I was 4 minutes late to pick up my half Thai bud, Martin. I showed him around in my suburban hometown, played some mini golf games, and watched "Quantum of Solace" at the movie theatre. I introduced him to a Quapa girl who works at a local grocery store, explaining to her that he's both from Switzerland and Thailand. Then, we were off to Seattle with my family. We got on the top of the Space Needle, visited Pike Market, ditched our hotel room and went to clubbing, bumped into a homeless black guy and dropped two dollars and ran, met a young hapa dude at the Northgate mall, ate together at P.F. Chang, and had to drop him off at Seattle Airport.
Remember I've told you this was supposed to be some sort of a Greek drama? We were thought to be hispanic by a white guy so we ended up in a hispanic clubbing place. Nobody noticed we are different except that old fat Mexican guy who felt we are bit different from the rest of others. When I had hapa hooded sweater on, nobody noticed us except that hapa young guy and some Japanese girls. I find it hard to believe that Japanese girls were checking us out, comparing to korean and chinese girls. Are they hapa fox hounds, is it their custom of civil life, or what?
hey man. sorry for the late ass reply, dude. Gomenesai!
i didn't know anything about the whole UNICEF - IIRO linkage. I believe though that everything has a link with something else if it concerns the conjoining of many international organizations, good and bad. UNICEF has always been there for youth poverty so i support that.
that's an interesting concept, mate. i just don't see it being vry realistic unless the government decides to create some sort of official BIG organization for hapas and choose only a few worthy hapa members (keeping in mind how this can benefit the US through international relations) I dunno... it could happen but like the saying goes in journalism - there's gotta be something there at the end of it.
actually... i don't know if that's a saying in journalism lol.
UNICEF?! It signed with IIRO which stands for International Islamic Relief Organization that have branches funding terrorist groups that kill hundreds in East Asia. It is difficult to investigate for people at United Nations when they don't know what "terrorism" is. Who are their parents?
tsk tsk I rather give money in those kiddies' pockets than to UNICEF since generally it is practically hard for hapas to live a comfortable life in United States and plus hapas are probably the only solution to divided borderlines around the world. How many hapas you know who never have money to pay visits to their Asian ancestors' lands? If you give money to any hapa kiddies, it will create a great positive effect on hapa kiddies. Oh my gosh, I didn't realize how genius I am. Giving money to hapa kids could create our positive image.... Just give them money and say 'My name is Hapa' without having their parents suspecting the 'hapa' term. lol What do you think, mate?!
anyway,
I would support UNICEF since it helps poor children around the world but signing with IIRO is a bad move and thus creates a dangerous ticking bomb down the railroad track. There are other sources with clean names that support poverty.
I think we need to keep our eyes for any poor hapa children if they get equal benefit but how do we know?
Yep we need to make WAH cards. New hapas simply don't have the sense of bringing the world together.
That would be a cool thing to do. Athena's been asking some of the ninjas about doing that. it was incredible how many hapas we saw together here in NYC. We even stopped by a couple of little kiddies selling origami for UNICEF that were hapa. it was nice. I need to make some WAH cards too lol
hahaha my Great God of Hapas status? lol Isn't Zeus going to hear this? Yep I'll tell ya about my little adventure with my hapa buddy in Seattle. I think I'll need to make some small WAH cards for any hapas in Seattle.
lol yeah i invited her over to my place and i cooked up a simple dish. nothing too fancy. u're funny, man. we don't quite compare to ur Great God of Hapas status, though, with your commanding presence and authority! lol i can't wait for u to tell me all about the adventures ahead of you two. this all sounds like a story from Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey. haha
Lol, thanks for clearing up. Oh cool, I shall remember his name when I see him. I hear from Athena that you're cooking dinner for her. I couldn't be prouder to see O Mighty Tak and Hapa Greek Goddess setting a great example for the rest of WAH members, and so is for other hapas from the outworld. A good hapa friend of mine is coming over to visit me and then we'll display our hapa pride with me wearing my Hapa t-shirt or hooded sweater in Seattle for Thanksgiving break. Hoping to struck more hapas with a sea of hungers for connection, or shall we bear staring eyes and gnarling mouths of hates. There is a plenty of lost bridges ahead of us to find and broken ones to repair. "The readiness is all!"
lol no he's not my brother. at least no biologically; but he is mah brotha. James Romer, mate. he's on the site. Doesn't use it as much but don't expect to get a reply anytime soon. His fiance is in from NZ so he's been spending a lot of time with her. Hit him up. He's a cool dude with a headstrong mind.
ah. doing anything special for thanksgiving actually?
Haha, I'll stop being a crybaby! Sorry to remind you about the phillies but hey dude I also share your pain. Phillies defeated Dodgers...how swell. Who the heck is James?? Do I know him? I suspect he is your brother, isn't he?
I'm waiting to see if my special hapa friend decides to visit my place during Thanksgiving break.
now y in the hell did u have to remind me about the phillies? =P
Boston showed some resilience against the Rays but i don't think it would've been enough against the Phillies, to be honest. They were a really tough team this year. Anyway... i hate them with a passion so i'd rather not think about it over again. Me and James have been cryin' about it for a while lol.
I was hoping the new nomination process took effect. I guess not. I did submit my speech before I voted. The result doesn't look very pretty to me, so I'm gonna CRY!!!!! (sobs) You got more votes than I got you've noticed that? (wheeze) I admit this is the saddest day of my whole life. Okay I can get ahold of my emotion.
Hey I should've brought this up before. Phillies won the World series. Do you think they would have a chance against Boston?
haha those guys are riots, man. no matter how bad Keanu is at acting, u can never hate the guy. The dude's so cool. He's NEO for goodness sake! lol Y do u ask? did someone tell u that? now lookin at it, you two do have upper head resemblance lol. Eyes, brows, hair, not so sure about the ears lol. is he, like, your idol?
Yep yep, you will, mate. Good thing, you're adding your points. I will make sure to have your points in my article somehow. Also, it will involve the question whether we should use the term "hapa" or not, sort of similar to the situation whether Japan should take over Korea or not long time ago. I hope you don't need it right away cuz I'm not a big fan of writing a formal article. I normally walk around to make a good one. I will need one weeks or two to make it happen. But the question is: how long the writing should be?
hey man. sorry for the late reply. i honestly forgot you wrote me last lol my bad.
what's that story all about, man? i'm glad you feel strongly about getting the right message out to all hapas. This shouldn't be a popularity contest or some kind of 'fad.' we're more important than that just like every other person in the world. We're different from most and we need to let the world know who we are, and see to it that we're not a silly trend or seemingly objects of desire. People have to flush that superficial bullshit about hapas. there's more to us than that. if that's how we're gonna let people see us then we'll forever be looked upon in that manner, making it much more difficult for future generations to fully accept us.
I wanna know that story, man. i'm dying to know lol.
Sure no prob, mate! I think 'Revitalizing' would be better for me. 'Destination' sounds too geeky. We have to understand that any 'Hapa' group or even this site could be in danger of being a 'fad.' I've seen this many times. We have to find something that would get in the head of hapa fellas, not only to here but also to all around the world. The good news is I already know of a perfect way, which is a sad and yet inspiring story about a hapa guy I know of that might capture the hearts of hapas around the world. I personally feel this should be made in a Hollywood film or a documentary film though it may not be appealing to average audience but to hapa audience. If I were a Hollywood director, I would make sure to bring this to life, though it would not make a lot of money. He was the reason why I came back to pull up hapas together, instead of being on my own way.
Oh sorry actually I'm not known for reading many books. fyi, I'm a visual person or a dumb jock. I was a performer among other dancers on a stage before for Dance Festival Show at my former school. I will take a look in these stuff. I gotta keep up with business textbooks. Yep, I red Stranger in a Strange Land back in HS. It was pretty exciting in the first half then I got lost in the second half, but I got the part of how it ends.
it may have just been my bad habit. no worries. wow that sounds like a very very interesting book. I should def check it out. when did you read the book - in HS? Not sure, really. I think Camus' The Stranger was perhaps the most profound novel i've ever read. i think I share some of the existential beliefs in the character but in no way would i senslessly kill someone. I dunno, i've read the book 3 times but i still feel i have much to learn from it. I will reread it again sometime soon. well there is also Dostoyevsky's White Nights. About a man who meets a woman, befriends her, and then ends up falling in love with her - only to experience emotional distraught after her lover returns. lol it's a short story. A great one at that. About loneliness and spur of love. It's been made into a brilliant Italian film called Le Notti Bianchi. It's one of my fav short stories of all time.
Oh I see. Cuz at first, I suspected it might be a different dialogue from what I'm used to. you're the first one who asks like that. I'm so accustomed to "What book" or "Which book". lol I feel mostly identified with "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein. My English teacher assigned me to read that book for my research paper. That book was published during the Sex Revolution. It was about an innocent guy from Mars coming to Earth, filled with corruption and perversion. I was like how the hell he knows I would like that book. Clearly, in my eyes, everyone is a stranger to me until I read about astrology and the vast of demography and which jurisdiction they live on and whatever. The funny thing is I haven't read other books by Robert Heinlein. And yourself?
Sure. There are still questions you asked me which I haven't responded yet. What do you mean "What's a book that you strongly identify with"? You mean which book? Can it be either fact or fiction?
oi Chris, would it be cool if you can answer my latest post in the Forums?? i'm doing this video and i need as many members as possible to participate. it just needs a one word answer. Shouldn't take much time. And if you do, could ya spread the word to other members? thanks, mate.
that's cool that you identify with Kikuchiyo. the funny thing is that before that character was created, Kurosawa and his screenwriter first had only the six samurai but felt that no one would be able to identify with any of them, so they created Kikuchiyo for the audience and gave the role to Mifune who was originally planned to play that quiet samurai who's crazy good with the katana. hey man, that film wasn't boring! it was an epic masterdom! haha and y or y would u bring back the mets??!!?!?! i've tried so hard to forget about their downfall AGAIN, and you just had to bring it all back, eh?! !GETTING MY BLOOD BOILING AGAIN, EH?!1!?@!?@! haha jk. hey, what's a book that u strongly identify with?
Yeh that's him, Kukuchiyo played by Toshro Mifune!! Half of my inner soul communicates through him in that film. His wacky behavior reveals of his isolated and self-reliable life. He is not like the other famous lone stars or hero such as the Hulk, Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Maybe not like other Japanese celebrities. Yeh being outcast is not bad. He's the reason why I watched the whole boring film. lol. Hey look like Mets did not make it to playoff. Dodgers kicked Number one Cubs' butts. Don't worry Dodgers will take care of your rival.
For the first few times, I experienced trying to make myself a playlist with internet and found out they weren't for free. Now, tracks are playable for the playlist I desire to make. That's good your father's a scuba diver. Well actually it was shooting pellets, much smaller than bullets, though a rifle felt heavy. I'm hoping to try shooting machine guns at any shooting range centers someday....oh haha Talking about movies and games are the biggest part of Deaf Culture. They do not only ask trivia questions and make responses on movies they've seen but also act out and try to identify with the movies. One guy pretended to be a DBZ character but he went too far. You know I can list out the threats that might get in their ways or affect their life. Important things for deafies would be improving communication skills with 'hearing' people, doing laundry, studying, building up their resumes, improving their vocabulary, eating meals, and so on.
oh, Kukuchiyo is that character u were referring to in the Seven Samurai who's sort of the outcast amongst the band of samurai. He's the guy who was always crackin jokes on one of the old villagers and made the kids laugh. Toshiro Mifune is the name of the actor who played that character. He was very very big in Japan for a looong time. He was Kurosawa's favorite actor to work with. Very awesome guy. He looks monstrous on film, no? But in real life, the guy's not even 6 ft. haha
some tracks aren't free??? hmm, kinda strange. Never had that problem YET. Never say never, tak. I love snorkeling!!! i did some of that in Japan with my father. he's a certified scuba diver, so he gets to do some pretty exciting things on his time off lol. I never got to shoot a rifle though. how did that feel like? musta felt liberating in some ways. You know, man.. we all have guilty pleasures. I like some shite movies myself and i sometimes find it hard to admit to my film friends - but i know they have some bad ones under their sleeves just like you and me lol what kinds of important things do you speak of, mate? r u just talking in general? like a lot of your friends or something tend to talk more about trivial things rather than, lets say, current events? I know what u mean. it seems as though a lot of my friends from college are like that as well since we all studied film together for four years. But of course, we tend to talk about other topics as well. Shiri? What's it about? How did it touch you?
Oh forgot to answer your questions. Before, I had troubles with trying to get a free playlist. Some playlists and tracks aren't free. ...camping...I used to camp out with other boy scouts, though I didn't have in common with them. The best camp out was Camp Cherry Valley in Catalina Island offshore from Long Beach 30 minutes away from a port where it is almost covered by ocean for one week. I did shooting a rifle and arrows, snorkeling, and swimming. I visited Avalon in East Catalina Island. It might be a good place to visit with a few friends especially when you're in high school. I got good tastes in films?? mm... I even like some movies that have horrible plots like Mortal Kombat annihilation. Many deafies always talk about movies while they forget about important things that need to be taken care of. I generally watch films that really touch the hearts of people, and I always keep in mind that directors are trying to communicate their ideas and shape the society through their films like books. Cuz you never know what's behind the bush. I forgot to add Cruise's The Last Samurai. I love its emphasis on courage. You should check out Shiri cuz it topped Titanic. Koreans will be impressed if you watch it.
I'm a Stalker??! I was only checking out your profile. Can I take a look at your wall? Lol Why nobody wants to be known and keep hiding until they die? :P Who are kikuchiyo and Toshiro Mifune? Lol, Mr. Baseball was def hilarious. It was probably the first film that showed me a bit about Japanese culture. That's how I first realized the Japanese actress didn't look like my Filipino mother. haha. Yeh Vanilla Sky was good. Found out it was originally made by Spaniards. I love Rain Man cuz I can relate to it by making a friend with a deaf hapa guy who was diagnosed w/ cerebral palsy.
AH!!! i just noticed that you love MR. BASEBALL!!!! That's one of my fav baseball movies ever. And i got to listen to that remixed version of read my mind. really cool! U've got some good taste in films, bro. I really enjoyed Vanilla Sky. Thought it was one of Cruise's best work along with Color of Money and Rain Man.
Chris! you STALKER! ! lol jk jk. i haven't heard the trance version. I'll be on the look out for that one. How do you relate to Kikuchiyo? He was def the most interesting character out of the bunch. Love Toshiro Mifune. do you camp often? u're so close to great great outdoor life, man. I'm thinking of going out on another camping trip this month with my cousin. Might be cold but i just love the fall. So that's what happened! haha Anything specific on how the program opened your eyes? curious.
Just checking out your profile....I see you like Killers' Read my mind(I like it better in trance version)...Lost in Translation...Shakespeare...Hamlet...baseball...prefer to read after watching movie lol...Seven Samurai(I can relate to that hot-headed vagrant who made kids laughing)...Aston Martins(you have a good taste)...baseball...Futbol...ooo camping and canoeing...awesome! Hey you commented my Disney picture with two japanese girls. I was teasing them by using a Japanese phrasebook to communicate with them and covering my face to hide my humiliation. They were very generous. I was like 'Damn they did a pretty good job at being generous comparing to typical Americans even Christians.' Disney College Program had really opened my eyes on foreign affairs especially with Hong Kong and Japan. That's how I want to be the guy with the best character younger generation on earth can look up to.
LOL that was fun making that avatar. Who showed you that?? or did you stumble upon the site yourself? that's a good question, mate. I think those who use the term 'hapa' should have at least the knowledge of it's meaning based on the land of its origin. For Hawaiians, 'hapa' is a term strictly to describe people who are part hawaiian. Somehow, the term evolved into describing those who are part Japanese and then into 'part Asian.' It's definitely important for those also to know the difference between a true hapa, hapa, and non-hapa. I think some people on this site aren't exactly clear on the meaning of the term 'hapa' but this is also a place for cultural diversity, so I won't argue. I'm very accepting, i guess lol. I hate to single others out. Now in terms of cultural preservation, i think it is the duty of the Hawaiian people to lead with the preservation and for non-Hawaiian supporters to follow. But personally, if I had the chance to tell someone about the meaning of Hapa, then i'd do it. It's always good to teach something new to someone in hopes they pass that knowledge along. How do you feel about it, man?
lol. You can try it for yourself on www.faceyourmanga.com. I put down "Hapa" on my black t-shirt. I don't know why I made a look-like-Japanese-Rising-Sun-Flag background. That's how I express for myself. Hey um... just an important question that appeared in my head. As soon as somebody adopts the word "Hapa", do you feel that it is important for non-hawaiian Hapas to learn about Hawaiian culture and preserve it? In my eyes, Hawaii represents the birth of mixed Asian population and a place where Westerner and Asian immigrants come together.
Hmmmm i wonder why there aren't a whole lotta usage of bricks on the west coast. Very very interesting. i honestly can't think of a reason why there'd be no bricks over there, man. I think bricks came into use in America in the late 1800's. At that time, the western front was still being fought over, no? Well at least before the Civil War. I suppose that bricks were shipped to America via Europe trade and we just hogged them all over on the east coast.
Glad you asked. In west coast, I grew up almost never seen brick buildings until I resided in Rochester, NY. Brick buildings are everywhere in there. I still don't see any brick buildings in WA. So, I guess brick buildings are not customs in west coast.
I'm actually not a big american football fan. I just can't get into it. I've watched a few super bowls in my life but that's all. Dodgers gotta take it one game at a time. Gotta keep that important mindset. I like ur quote by the way. It's an important saying, i think. Sometimes people can get so caught up by the chaos around their environment and don't pause to find that much needed silent tranquility.
Hey, are you also a fan of American football? Brandon Webb, a 19-6 pitcher for Arizona Diamondbacks, did a horrible job against the second-ranking Dodgers. Now the Dodgers are able to control their destiny.
you can google it and check the videos section. They should have the entire film for free to watch. Hopefully no one took it down. I don't have a clear cut favorite. I tend to watch Dramas since they pack a bit more plot than most others. I really enjoy all kinds of dramas (except musicals and disney stuff besides toy story) if they pack a solid story, you know? I'm into foreign, documentaries, low budget independent films, action, mockumentaries... etc. lol Not into sappy romances a whole lot to be honest but I love Ghost. What are some of yours? My favorite foreign film directors r Jean Pierre Jeunet, Beat Takeshi, Wong Kar Wai, Francois Truffaut, Akira Kurosawa, and Federico Fellini. There are others I enjoy but these guys are top notch. what's a film you really love? thanks, mate. I hope they at least get to the playoffs. Last year they had the worse collapse in baseball history and this year their bullpen is taking games away from them. So i'm particularly nervous for these very few games left in the regular season.
No I haven't seen nor heard of Zeitgeist. Good thing, you tell me. I cannot keep up with most of the names of the films. I suppose you know all about filming. Do you have any favorite movie genre? I've already seen your favorite filmmakers. Do you also watch any foreign films? I do sometimes watch foreign films. I suppose Chinese warns us dating somebody of 6 years older or younger brings unfortunate news. There were some times I hanged out with girls to some places, but they were not considered as dates. One time, I bumped into an older solo Brazilian guest at MGM Studios theme park and asked her to team up with me during my day off from work at Magic Kingdom as a custodial. Yep, you heard me. I was involved in Disney College Program during the summer of 2006. It was a good experience for me. I concur with you on Ichiro. I know there is a tough competition in East pennant. Hopefully, Mets will be able to go to World Series for you. I gotta see that Zeitgeist somewhere. ttyl
HAHAHA you've got a point there, mate. That is the funny truth to the whole thing. Kudos. I've heard of that. There is that theory that the number 12 is some sort of universal significance. It's very strange. Have you ever heard of a film called Zeitgeist? Maybe there's one online with captions/subtitles but in partial to the film, it had questioned the very nature of religion and astrology. i remember the film went into explaining how the number 12 is a symbol of not only the zodiac signs but also our calender, and how the number fits into almost every religion. So easterners feel differently about dating someone who's considerably older/younger?? Interesting. Well, now that you mention it, my father is 6 years older than my mother--but then again i don't consider that much of a difference at all. 12 years in difference is when i begin to think it's a little drastic but not if you've reached a certain age. As one gets older, the likely age difference can widen. When you're younger you'd rather stick with your own age or someone a year younger/older. Have you ever dated someone much older/younger than you? my ex was two years younger than me but never made me feel weird or awkward--except when it was my 21st birthday, she and her friend called me 'old man'. i was like: "ugh... don' you dare call me that yet." Ichiro will be one of the greatest baseball players who ever lived. Period. He doesn't disappoint. Now there's a man who knows the game by heart. I can't wait for the day when they put his name up with Pete Ross, Cal Ripken Jr., Ty Cobb, and all them golden oldies. honestly, i've been following up on baseball a lot now lately, mostly cuz every game counts for something since we're so close to the pennant, u know? my team's in a heated race with a rival team for first place and 'it's first place or bust' kind of mentality, you know? the eastern division of the national league has no chance, whatsoever, for a wild card spot so we have to win first place. that's also why ur dad's so hooked onto the dodgers now cuz they're going through the same thing. I can't blame him.
You know what? I think all Hapas ought to research on astrology both western and chinese. You know why? As you guess it, Astrology is also Hapa! Oh nah, that would be bit silly. Yep, two signs are true. 12 is an interesting number to me because Legend said Buddha said goodbye to 12 chinese animal zodiac during his departure to somewhere and Jesus had 12 disciples. Jesus left his 11 or 12 disciples (Was Judas the 12th?) and went to heaven. Do you see some similarity? We also have 12 western signs and a 12-months calender. Yeh I believe there is a trait of strong stubbornness in Taurus/Rooster. I don't consider it as a double threat. Rooster makes Taurus more as a pioneer. Rooster brings rainbow to my orderly life. I also attract to snake because its wisdom. Sometimes unfortunately westerners feel it is weird to date somebody who is 4 years younger or older, and even 8 years younger or older. My father is a big Red sox fan since he was raised in Mass, and then Dodgers when I first like it as a kid. He still watches those Dodgers game while I'm trying to be updated with other things in the world. I still root for Dodgers and Mariners and sometimes Yankees because of A Rod. I don't know which player I think is the coolest yet. I always worship Ichiro, Jay Buhner, Ken Griffey Jr., A-Rod, any Asian players lol, and recently Manny Ramirez. Haha sometimes I imitate somebody doing signals. But remember don't let watching baseball games consume your life. I must warn you. My father (pisces) never learns to balance his life.
dude, that's pretty cool that you know so much about astrology of both the western and the chinese. I do a little research here and there because i've always been interested in the idea of certain powers that are in the works yet beyond our basic understanding. Plus, how do we fit these astrological ideals and guides into our everyday lives, especially the people we interact with. Surprisingly, i find that most information about certain signs and the kind of interactions between two signs are totally true! In one way or another--sometimes it's a bit vague but if you can look at it as a bigger picture, you can see how astrology works. interesting stuff, mate. i don't know if u'd consider this a double threat but my brother's a Taurus/Rooster child. Kinda funny, no? Aren't both signs equally stubborn? Did she really? Was it really because of you? i'd think that would be pretty sweet of her if she learned the language just to talk to you. lol Do you follow up on baseball real close? if so, which team/player do you like the most?? I bet you guys really loved to play with signals during baseball games, eh? Those would be some of the smallest things in the game that made it much more enjoyable, i think.
My mother is taurus and I guess that is the reason she and my father get along. Still, she shows her Dragon side that gives my father with Rabbit Zodiac, a little bit hard time. Since my older brother is Aries/Rooster and I am Sag/Ox, I can see why we enjoy sharing many things in life. I believe you must be Tiger. Tiger is a powerful sign comparing to Ox but has different techniques. I feel tigers look for speed (not drug lol). People from the Horse and Dog years are compatible for you. So what do you think? That's pretty cool you're into astrology. Many ppl I know are lazy to research them. No wonder why there is 50% divorce rate in California. Muhahahaha! ahem, excuse me.
awesome! I happened to like Baseball and Futbol as I grew up playing these sports. Many deafies I know are big fans of sports because sports are very visual. Playing sports are almost like their alternate for listening music. Yep...make sense. It's pretty amazing to hear you wanted to learn sign language. One time, when I saw my former classmate doing her ASL Lab hours, I asked her if it was because of me. She got embarrassed lol. I started my little journey on astrology after hearing too many conflicts among deafies. The deeper I go, the more relevant it appears to be. When it comes to conclusion, it becomes trickier if we are looking for 100% compatibility with both Western and Chinese Zodiac. For the best match, any Earth sun signs or Water sun signs are generally matched for you. As for me, it says I should look for somebody with air or fire signs. Do I demand you to follow the astrology? The answer is no, but it takes a lot of thinking with whom you should pick on your own as I do for myself. Notice Brad Pitt is Sagittarius and Angelina Jolie is Scorpio. They seem to get along pretty well and they are very outdoor together.
hey, man. I'm doing all right, thanks for asking. Love the quote referencing Bond's family motto. Since you're obviously into football, what other sports you u into, man? I actually wanted to learn sign language months ago after pairing up with a deaf girl for a class project. I get easily interested into things but nothing quite like learning a non verbal language. AH! i just realized u've read up on Astrology. Awesome! So which signs are better matched for a pisces like myself, mate?
Konnichiwa! O genki desu ka? I think you left a comment on my first account. So sorry about it! Focusing on your art creativity because you're Pisces? lol. Since I'm Sagittarius, I do tend to be self-obsessive and meet new people. My father and my younger sister are pisces. They are sensitive. That's cool you re a fan of Manchester. I like Manchester United and Inter Milan. ttyl
