Mixed Roots Japan
MixRoots Japan is a group for people of multi-racial and cultural
backgrounds in Japan or abroad with Japanese ethnic/cultural heritage.
We are the host of Shake Forward!, children and youth workshops,
exhibitions, and the International Mixed Roots Essay and Art contest,
as well as a monthly radio show.

ABOUT US
MixRoots
Japan originally started as a regional community for HapaJapan, one of
the half a dozen mixed roots communities in Japan. Most of these sprung
up in the Japanese social networking service Mixi, which has become
somewhat of a social movement.
This has greatly helped mixed
roots individuals in Japan interact with each other and overcome former
prejudice, think about their roots, think about the future of their
mixed roots children. We serve individuals who are of mixed roots, i.e.
multiracial or parents of mixed roots children, single parents with
mixed roots children, Nikkei, people of complex history that have
profoundly changed their roots (i.e. post war immigration, exodus,
forced migration, trafficking), mixed roots individuals who have faced
prejudice in society such as those of Ainu, Okinawan, Korean, any
foreign or cultural descent, etc.
As a group, we organize art
exhibits (all genre, not necessary hapa themed, but featuring hapa
artists), concerts, guest speaker events, panels, interaction with
cultural organizations, community service, culture exchange, idea
exchange, informal advising between older and younge generations,
parties, parties, beach parties, international parties, salsa parties,
cultural celeberations, sporting events, etc. As a non-profit
organization, we seek to broaden the horizons of our hapa brothers and
sisters and the society as a whole.
The group is based in
Japan and mainly serves those who are mixes that include Japanese roots
or those who are simply multirracial mixes living in Japan or have
lived in Japan or have had experiences relating to Japan. Any inquiries
are welcome.
Looking forward to hear from you all!!! ^_^
