Thanks for your votes last month!
Dear Loving Day supporters,
Loving Day was very fortunate to be among the first round of projects selected for the Refresh campaign, a very admirable effort by Pepsi to award grants to deserving project all over the United States. On behalf of all of the Loving Day volunteers, I would like to thank you for your online votes during the past month. Together we competed very well. We held our ground alongside other projects with much greater resources than our own.
Unfortunately we did not finish in the top ten, which means that we will not be awarded the grant. However, we did accomplish something very significant: we introduced the Loving Day Project (and the multicultural community) to thousands of new supporters nationwide. The Refresh campaign has a huge advertising budget and a national audience, and we certainly benefited from that. However, the real momentum came from you, your votes, and your efforts to spread the word about Loving Day. We couldn't have done as well as we did without your help. We are truly grateful for your support.
Loving Day came so close to winning that Pepsi has automatically renewed our application. That means Loving Day is still on the Refresh website and eligible for the $25k grant (if we get enough votes). This is definitely a good thing, and we are grateful for the opportunity and exposure. However, we will not be sending out periodic reminders like we did last month. Instead, we will focus on preparations for Loving Day 2010.
Remember that it's fun and easy to host your own Loving Day Celebration of any size. It's also free to list your event and share it with the world on http://www.lovingday.org. Please stay tuned for information about upcoming Loving Day events, including the Loving Day Flagship Celebration in New York City.
Once again, please accept our heartfelt thanks for your votes and your support this past month. We are looking forward to celebrating Loving Day with you again this year. Let's continue to fight racial prejudice through education and to build multicultural community. Together we can make Loving Day a global tradition.
Sincerely,
Loving Day Volunteers.
