No Homo: Hip Hop and Homophobia

Have you ever heard the phrase "No homo" thrown around in hip hop/rap/pop culture in general or even in every day conversation? Do you feel that it is offensive? Do you yourself say it? What does it mean to you?  


I work at an inner city urban school and I hear it said by 9 and 10 year olds, it makes me cringe and wonder if they really know what they're saying...

Is hip hop culture a homophobic one? What do you think?

    I feel that phrase is over used wayyy to much... Even when I'm having a casual conversation that has no homosexual content, people say no homo for the stupidest things...like eating an icecream cone.....they gotta say no homo even though no one wasn't even thinking of some perverted idea
