Hey, I was really tempted by Korea as the perks are a lot better than in Japan as is the pay but I have been wanting to spend time in Japan for a long time and I got offered a job there and took it! My contract is only until March 2010 and planned to go to Korea to work after but that will depend. I definitely want to spend time in Seoul for sure! I've also been reading up a lot on Korea and trying to learn a bit of the language....
I have been to Asia before but not Japan/South Korea. I spent last year on exchange in Singapore and have also been to China/Hong Kong, Myanmar/Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam -I have A LOT of love for Asia! ;)
I'm moving to Japan next September to work as a teacher and am considering working in South Korea after that. I definitely want to visit South Korea while I'm in that area.
i'm still here, still in fukuoka, still working at my friend's parents's shop, i just started to look for another job now i'm adjusted to my new j-lifestyle. still looking forward to welcome u in my tiny apt ;)
NYC sounds good as well!! when do you plan to move? Would it be Seoul if you'd chose Korea?
Hey Nina, Yeah you know...I think that may be how it's going to end up, I'm going to buy a one way ticket as soon as I get everything settled here in Hawaii. I don't want any loose ends while I'm abroad. So I give the ETA maybe 3-6 months? I might have an opportunity to be housed in Thailand so if that works, I may even go there first....anywhere in Asia would just be phenomenal ;) I'm taking it your experience went quite well?
Ninachan! How have you been? heading back to the "morning calm" country soon? I'll prolly be visiting Pusan (Busan? which one is the true name?which one is the japanese pronunciation?) for my bday (around late jan) gotta meet & hang!! but you're also more than welcome to my place dudette!
Hey Nina, quick question, I'm contemplating on moving to Korea or Japan really soon and I'm either going to volunteer and help out in the farmlands/impoverished areas or try and teach English. I'm leaning towards Korea because...it is the motherland after all ;) But I was wondering...how open are the policies when the potential teacher has no degree? Would you say it's a long shot in the dark or is there potential?
That's awesome you teach english in Korea. I thought about going to Japan to do that through the JET program, but I don't think I have the guts to. Hope you are having a great day!
